I must have my head in the clouds...

Recommended Posts

The past few months I have been thinking that I don't have a lot of work to do and just send my invitations out lickety-split-easy....oooops.

I wanted to have a Welcome Dinner (or rehearsal dinner)...but exactly WHEN do you hold one of those? Being in Mexico, my FI and I, immediate family, and select relatives are all arriving on Tuesday. The wedding isn't until Saturday.

So....the question is: do you hold the Welcome Dinner Tuesday or Wednesday when most arrive, or do you wait until the day before the wedding, to have more of a "rehearsal dinner?" Do you typically have it the day before the wedding but just call it a Welcome Dinner?

I thought having a destination would be simpler than it is proving...more details than expected....having fun...just clueless!!! YIKES

I'm most likely going to have 2...Id do the first one the second night just to let people settle in and get themselves familiar with the resort than im also thinking of having just a get together before the day of our wedding maybe go on a mini sunset cruise

There are no rules it's your wedding so do what u like and what fits ur budget..remember people are also on vacation so they probably aren't expecting to see traditional wedding ediquette (maybe im wrong abot this part but that's just my opinion)

Id think about having it maybe Thursday night. That way people will have Friday to recupporate and wont be all hung over for your Saturday wedding. And maybe Tuesday or Wednesday you could have a "lets all meet" breakfest or lunch so that everyone can get to know eachother a little better. Just a thought though. I dont think theres any rules to these things, its what ever works best for you. :)

I don't think that would sound cheap, these people are all coming to see you get married, so why not just set up a little schedule for them all and say that you would love for them all to meet and let's meet up at so and so place at so and so time.

Also I know that some of the girls have been able to work out deals with their hotels about welcome dinners, check with Tammy (host) about this, I think she got a great deal on some extras for her wedding.

I might be confused as to what your asking. Are you wanting to replace the welcome dinner with a lets meet at the buffet type of thing. Or are you thinking of having the welcome dinner later in the week and than so that everyone can meet up to say hello a "lets meet at the buffet" event in the beginning of the week? If the later is what you are saying that I think thats fine. I dont think there is any need to host a private welcome brunch if you are allready planning on hosting a welcome dinner later on in the week. I would definilty just put on your website or in a newletter that you thought it would be nice if everyone for example, met up for breakfest on Wednesday morning to say hello and meet oneanother.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
