It was the Riu Jalisco in Puerto Vallarta - I just realised you're looking in Cancun!

The Riu resorts fitted our budget quite well - I really wanted Dreams, but when it came down to it, I was happy with Riu to save everyone quite a bit of cash! I believe the travel agent got a group rate through Sunquest.

Ava-- we haven't shut out PV from possiblities yet. We have both heard great things about PV and it could very well be where we go (if we can't decide on a reasonably-price resort in Mayan Riviera). I just don't like the idea of going to Cancun (crowds :S ). I'll have to take a look at Riu resorts because there seems to be quite a few people who have suggested it! Thanks!

I think the reason they're so popular, is they're a combination of affordability and class! I'm certainly really happy so far, let me know if you need any info I've obtained, but I'm still getting it together!

I, on the other hand, think it's okay for it to be $2200 (taxes incl. with group rate...which seems to be the norm of the placed i think would be nice). I mean, as long as we get there, and our parents get there...then we're fine. He wants tons of people to go, while I could care less if anyone comes (as long as our parents come). so I'm looking endlessly at these stupid resort books trying to find a resort that he'd be happy with. I mean, it's our *wedding* not a random trip that we want the best deal on. I don't want to have my wedding at a hole-in-the-wall resort just to save a couple hundred dollars. It was his idea for the destination wedding, and he sold me on the idea. Help me out girls...Am I crazy? confused.gif
I am having the exact same problem to a 'T'!

Anyways, just wanted to suggest, we would go there ourselves had we not already went there once (for one of our good friends weddings). We went to Riu Jalisco in Puerta Vallarta, and although the water is not as nice as Cancun, this place, for the price, was probably the best value I've ever had on vacation. It was 1632 per person, in CDN $. So anyways, due your dilligence and check it out if you want, I really loved it and everything about the wedding was top notch too. The Gazebo is not anywhere near the beach (well it is within walking distance but not right beside it or anything) so you don't have crowds watching you. Anyways, our whole party of 38 really enjoyed it. The disco SUCKS though! haha

Hi Bride :)

I think you should narrow your top 2 or 3 resorts down to show your fiance for where you two will be staying and have different price options to send to your family & friends...that's what me and my FH are doing, staying where we want to stay and then having a couple different price options from the cheapest to middle of the road pricing and also prices of where we are staying for anyone who may want to be where we're at. This way it gives our invited guests a range of options that they can seriously look at and determine if they can make it or not. Good luck in your planning and I'm thinking good thoughts for you!! ~Lea S.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
