Who pays for day passes?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

If a guest opts not to stay at the resort you've booked for the wedding, does he/she pay for the day pass or should the bride and groom? And how do you communicate the arrangement to them?

thanks!

I think it is a personal decision for the couple. If you can fit it in your budget I think it's a nice thing to do. But if you can't do it then I would include that in the information you send out in your invitiation and your website if you are planning to have one. At a wedding I went to guests paid the day pass and I was totally fine with that.

We are paying the guest passes for anyone not staying at our resort. We realized that some people couldn't pay the extra money to stay at our hotel but after traveling so far to come to our wedding, felt it as the least we could do for them.

When we sent out our STDs, we put a note in there that basically stated we strongly recommended they stay at our hotel because the hotels tend to be spread out and transportation can take awhile. (We were hoping that would get them to stay at our hotel, lol).

So far, of the 50 who have booked, only 4 (a family) are staying elsewhere.

I think it depends on the bride and groom and the people coming. We are opting to pay for guests day passes if they don't stay at our resort. Yes, we want everyone to be a guest where we stay, but some people can't afford it and we feel that if they are making the effort to get to Mexico to see us get married, we can cover their day pass.

But again, it depends on the bride, groom and guests involved.

Thanks for the input---and the link to the other thread really helps! I'll have to think about it; I'll probably just be clear about it in the invite and then see who opts for what. If only a few decide to stay elsewhere we should be able to pay for it.

Thanks!

Oh...and we did tell people we'd pay for their day passes for the day of the wedding, but are VERY clear that other days, if they want to hang out at our resort it'll be almost $100 per person....when I tell them that and then tell them the things they get when staying with us (food, drink, excursions) they opt to stay with us (except for one couple who are on teh fence still)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
