Do you stalk your registries?

Recommended Posts

i'm a registry stalker, but all it's been doing is making me nervous!

my shower is in a week from tomorrow and only TWO things have been purchased!!! i'm worried this MyRegistry business was a bad idea for my family, although i thought they were all technologically advanced to handle it. my only hope is that people are buying things and not updating the registry to say that they bought it... sad.gif

now i sound like a greedy bride... and i need to stfu.gif

I checked all the time for a while and then didn't while I was away for my wedding, and guess what happens - a few people FINALLY bought us gifts off of our myregistry.com registry, but didn't mark the gifts as purchased (the pkgs were waiting for us when we got back). Well, other people also bought them and marked them off after the first people, and now we have duplicates. ARGH - beware of myregistry and your guests inability to read no matter how smart they are!

Also, our William Sonoma registry is almost completed, yet I have tons of cheaper options and deals with no shipping/tax on myregistry, but nobody is taking the leap to buy from there. Maybe b/c William Sonoma is also listed at weddingchannel.com, and myregistry.com is only listed on my wedding website?

Finally, people don't bother to look at my website to see where I'm registered, and instead buy me gifts from Tiffanys or Bloomingdales (which at least have gift receipts) or some weird things from who knows where, so sometimes I wonder what the point of a registry is anyhow haha. I guess I've done the same a few times, though usually it was when there was nothing left on the person's registry.

Don't mean to complain - of course it is nice to get any gifts - though people's idea of an appropriate gift varies hugely.

I check mine ALL the time...ahaha! I'm guilty! See I have NO idea when my shower is...and that makes me nervous, I enjoy surprising other people but I don't like to be surprised. My mom and my sister and I have this thing where we like to scare the shit out of each other and play pranks on one another so I figured I'll let them have this one...

I totally made myself that same promise and then broke it over and over. It was so hard! It started out as a "i need to add this", "I need to change this", etc. Then when I would see things gone, I would get so excited, like "someone loves me, yay!" that I would need to check it again. It did become an obsession.

The way I feel about it now is, you asked for x,y,z by registering for it. So it isn't like it's a surprise when someone actually buys yous x, so why not keep tabs if it makes you happy? Planning a wedding is stressdul, give yourself this one treat!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
