Fun Chat Thread: What is the one thing you are glad you spent $$$ on?

I think for us, it would be the decision to have our wedding at Las Caletas...

I told DH when we started planning and when we found out LC did weddings that I didn't care how much it cost or what I would have to do to get the money - I wanted to get married there!

I am eternally greatful to my MIL and FIL - they footed the entire bill for our ENTIRE wedding at Las Caletas!!! Had they not offered to pay for it, I would have worked 10 jobs to pay for it if I had to - it's absolutely the one (big) thing I am glad we spent the $ on!!!!

Once thing I wish I had done was hired a professional photographer for the wedding in JA. I didn't cuz I figured we are for the AHR and those photos would be enough. I thought that the guest in JA would get pictures and I wouldn't need the resort no-talent-photogs and couldn't justify spending twice on a professional photog. But now I wish I did.

I'm sorry you have regrets about photography. But, it's great that you shared that to help someone else make their decision. I was going to count on guests pictures too, but then realized I would regret it. I love pictures. I can skimp on everything else.

Will would say our photography for sure, we had a great photographer and he got some moments that I really treasure.

Let's see what else, oh our honeymoon, we totally didn't have the money for it but we went ahead and had a real honeymoon because we knew if we just went home it wouldn't feel like we really got married.

The things that I splurged on the most were gifts for my guests...(1)our moms trips (2)my bridesmaids gifts (3)OOT bags. I love giving gifts and wanted my girls and my guests to know how thankful we were for their presence. Both of our moms would have had to struggle to pay for the trip, so we paid for both of them in full. I didn't want our wedding to be a financial hardship on either of them. I'm so grateful that we were able to afford to do that and to buy the little extras for our guests.

I'd say the best things we spent money on was our honeymoon... and we went all out! We did 3 massages each, got certified for scuba, and spent a fortune extending our vacation for an additional 4 days! That extra time in paradise was really wonderful :)

I have 2 things, that equal over 12k but I'd do them again in a heartbeat...

1) Pay for my mom, dad, brother, SIL, and niece to come to the wedding. We spent over 6k on their travel, but I wouldn't trade that family vacation for anything. My brother left for Air Force basic training the week after my wedding and that family vacation together is still one of our family's best memories. We talk about Cabo all the time and about how we can't wait to do it again. My family could never afford that type of vacation, so it really was a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing for us to all be together like that. It was priceless.

2) Our wedding bands. We spend a ridiculous amount on just our bands (don't even get me started on what Jeff spent on my e-ring, despite the fabulous deal he got) but we LOVE our wedding bands. I don't think I've ever seen a guy show off his wedding band like Jeff does. It's truly his most prized possession.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
