i have been obsessing over our budget, or lack of, and was thinking about the one thing i am so glad we did not cut corners or hold back or even think about what it would cost and just got what we wanted.

i am sure a lot of us have that 'thing'...it may be photography, your dress, rings, honeymoon, music, flowers, etc.

What is your ONE thing that you spent on, didn't hold back, have no regrets, are happy about, etc.? popcorn.gif

Hmm that's a good question. We had a pretty good budget and stuck to it for the most part. i think we got a good deal on everything from my dress, photography and our wedding package. And i'm happy with how everything turned out.

I would say I'm most pleased with all the pampering with spa treatments we as a couple did the week of the wedding and the week after. We started off the week with a couples exfoliation/massage. Then I got a body wrap and massage on the morning of the wedding. It totally helped me and put me at ease. During the honeymoon we got 4 couples massages!!! OMG! We spent so much money on these spa treatments but it was very well worth it and DH and I have talked about it and are very thankful we did it. No regrets :0)

The Honeymoon, no doubt! We married in Mexico and a few people told us we were foolish for spending $$ to go somewhere else when we were already at a honeymoon spot. But we both wanted to have a honeymoon far from the wedding location and we both had always wanted to go to Jamaica. We're memory/experience people so we just had to do it.

Sooooooo eternally grateful that we did. Who cares how much it cost, in the end it was hands down the time of our lives and we completely became best friends again in a place that felt like it was only ours. We left Mexico as husband and wife with memories of friends and family, and got off the plane in Jamaica as husband and wife ready to make private memories. It was a magical time that we wouldn't trade for anything. We simply planned what we wanted without regard to any budget and we don't regret one bit of it :)

BTW Alyssa what is yours?

I just realized I never answered my own question DUH!

as of right now, it is our rings - my ering and our wedding bands - we have spent a small fortune on all 3 but it is the one thing we keep coming back to and saying we both agree was worth it - all 3 are custom designed and we think will be passed down in our families (to come!) as heirloom pieces - that is really cool!

I was just talking to my friend on the phone who got married last year and she had the funniest answer!

she had a big traditional wedding - she said the best $$$ she spent was on the makeup and hair team she hired to keep her FMIL and Mom busy all day so that they didn't bother her and she could get ready in peace! HAHA

This is a good question. I don't know that answer yet since I'm just really starting to get serious with the planning- HOWEVER- I am def going to keep checking this thread out so I can see what all your opinions are. Maybe it can help me alil.

It's funny cuz when I first read the title of the thread I thought it was a general question and the first thing I thought was SHOES! ha Oops.

I'll answer again after my wedding, but right now I'm thinking my answer will be photography & the group excursion.

I really haven't splurged anywhere. The only thing I went over budget on was photography, but I'm glad I did. I went under budget on a lot of things & I didn't budget enough for photography in the first place.

Now we are adding in a videographer so I'm definitly over budget. But, still very happy with the grand total.

I'm sure my FI would say my ring.. I don't know how much he paid for it but he said it was in his Top 3 most expensive purchases of his life (#1 - house, #2 - car). I would also love to pass my ring down as an heirloom.

The cost of my wedding per plate is going to be high up there since it's just about as expensive as the NJ places. I just have it in my head that since there's obviously not as many people coming, it'll even out.

There is ONE thing I want to splurge on.. but not pay full price like in the stores.. I've been looking online for the cheapest price under $250-$300 - Swarovski Crystal - Detailview

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
