Recommended Posts

jen that's good, one of the last steps to being officially married!

carly, that bites! knock him upside the head or something :) you can change it professionally and like on your VM and stuff, just start telling people. that way by the time you get your cert and make it official, everyone will be used to Carly D'! :)

You can mail it in. They have directions on their website. I got confused. LOL smile105.gif I decided it would be easier to wait in line for 2 hours with all the creepies. Your a lawyer- I'm sure you are smart enough to mail it in. :)

Oh goodie, I'm def going to mail it in.

Hmm now I wonder if I can use my married name as a lawyer since I got licensed under my maiden name. I would think I could right? Does anyone have any idea?

There was some chatter I read on here before about what DR have to do for that since their medical license is in a different name. It sounded confusing. That really sucks!

Yeah I am dealing with some of this and hubby did change his name too so he is suffering through all this as well. They spelled his name wrong so he has more issues than me.

I hear you about the emotional part, I called someone yesterday and there was a pause while I searched my memory bank for my name--duuuh.

Glenda, because you live in Queens, you can't mail it in. I checked. Apparently, EVERYONE in the country can do this via mail except for a few of us (Queens is one of them.) Check out this info on their website:

In order to enhance public service and strengthen the integrity of the Social Security Number, the Social Security Administration has opened six Social Security Card Centers. People who live or receive mail in Orlando, FL, Brooklyn, NY, Queens, NY, Las Vegas, NV, or the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan areas must apply at one of the following Social Security Card Centers. These offices serve both U.S. citizens and noncitizens applying for new or replacement Social Security cards.

Orlando (Florida) Social Security Card Center - Serving people who live or receive mail in Orange, Osceola, or Seminole Counties:

5520 Gatlin Avenue, Suite 102

Queens (New York) Social Security Card Center - Serving people who live or receive mail in Queens (Queens County), New York:

Jen I moved to Nassau County so maybe I'll be able to get away with mailing it in? It doesn't say anything about Nassau so I'm assuming I would be okay. Gosh I really hope I can just mail it in.

Oh you lucky girl. You are right, if you live in Nassau now, you can definitely mail it in. I thought you still lived in Flushing.

Not sure about the US but I would imagine its the same. Do you register your practising certificate (licence i suppose) with what we would call the Law Society? If so you just contact them and they change eveything for you its really easy.

After reading this I am so pleased I'm not changing my name lol

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
