you can get a free trial of photoshop.

I think it depends on what you want to do & how much time you want to spend learning it.

Publisher is a simple program like word & powerpoint. It's pretty simple to start up & make things right away.

Photoshop is a program you have to learn first. But, once you get it down it's an awesome program.

There are also 2 types of photoshop. Elements is the cheaper more basic program. CS3 is a big program running around $600. It is amazing with all the stuff it can do, but it takes so much time to learn to use it all.

There is also a free online version of photoshop.

Thanks, Morgan. :)

I was actually looking at some of your DIY wedding details and thinking about if I could go about making my own brochures, monograms, etc. I love photos too, so the obvious solution is for me to get photoshop...

Maybe I can see if a friend has it and I can get it for free. $600 is a bit $$$ for me right now smile43.gif

I'm fascinated by graphic design. I'd like to play around with images and creating things like invitations, etc. That said, I don't want to shell out lots of dough and find that I am terribel at it!fryingpan.gif

you can make all the stuff I did with elements. You can get it for $40 or less on ebay. Elements can do so much. I'd start there.

Another great program for PCs is lumapix fotofusion. You can download a free trial. The basic version is $40. It's more user friendly to pick up & start making invitations. It's also great for making photobooks.

I was always terrible with art stuff. But, since starting to plan my wedding I've learned I love graphic design. It's the first artsy thing I was good at. I think it's because I'm a lefty switched to right so I always had bad control of the pen.

Let me know what you decide. If you have an interest in learning it, you should give it a shot. You might really surprise yourself by what you can do. I know I sure am surprised by all I've learned this year just by making wedding stuff. It's been fun having a creative outlet :)

You switchedhuh.gif :)

I am a leftie who is very artsy in many ways, just not computers. I make jewelry and when I walk into Michael's I disappear for hours. I am always wanting to take up every kind of craft I see. For some reason, computer image stuff makes me worry!

I think I'll try that one you suggest. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun. And thanks to you (and some of the other girls), there are so many fun projects and instructions on this site, I'm sure I'll be able to test out a few projects.

Thanks again!

yeah, I was in preK during a span of time that they thought it was better to make leftys switch. I just have terrible handwritting & pen control now. I tried to go back, but it was hard.

Ok so that's the benefit of photoshop? I've looked into purchasing a program, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. I know I want to do some photo editing myself because I think it looks like fun and currently I use the arcsoft version provided by my digital camera.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
