just so no one here gets confused, simbasim is correct, you choose your witnesses, and the resort will supply witnesses if you don't have any with you.

HOWEVER, if you are having a legal ceremony (i'm pretty sure bbpacco is having symbolic, right?) both you AND your four witnesses must have been in mexico for 4 business days, and will need valid identification, as well as the tourist cards that are given at the airport. this criteria must be met ONLY for the legal ceremony. if the witnesses you chose do not meet that criteria, the resort will supply witnesses to you. and of course, if by chance you only have 2, they'll supply the other 2.

Thanks Jen for answering for me! Yes, that's correct, it's whomever you choose.

Unless as mummergirl said(I'm sorry I don't remember your first name!) you are having a legal ceremony, then it will be your "real" witnesses for the ceremony, whether you are having dreams provide them or bringing your own.

Hi ladies! Is there anywhere on the forum where there is a complete list of 2009 Dreams brides?

I am just interested in finding out if anyone else is close to mine!!!

July 3rd, 2009- unfortunately at 11am.

I recently switched resorts so I am anxious to learn as much as I can about Dreams....and all of the little intricacies that come with it (:

Has anyone actually done the legal ceremony at Dreams? It seems like most people are opting for the symbolic ceremony. I am so torn, because I feel like I won't be able to lie to everyone.. they will know for sure! I am just wondering how much of a hassle it was to get your blood work etc done at Dreams, and if it really is that big of a deal. Gaby tells me that it can take up to six months to get your marriage certificate back.. but I am not really that concerned about that.. I am actually more concerned about not having all my paperwork ready and everything, plus it is a lot more expensive than getting married in Canada..

there was someone on here who did the legal ceremony, but i don't remember their name ... they said the blood tests were no big deal at all. very quick and painless and done right in your room. (found it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32182)

personally, i just can't rationalize making everyone spend so much money to come see a staged reinactment of our wedding vows (we're already hearing a lot of crap about why we're not just doing it at home). i know no one would know (unless i blew the secret ... which i probably would, LOL), but it would bother ME that our wedding date on our marriage certificate wouldn't match (i have problems! LOL). it's so silly really because the legal ceremony costs you almost an extra $700 ... money that could be spent much more wisely.

i say if $$$ is an issue, you should go with the symbolic ceremony. but if you're ridiculous like me and you know it will bother you (and anyone who found out), fork over the cash!

When we did our legal ceremony, we just did it at the town hall, it was over in about 5 minutes, nothing crazy, and I honestly don't even remember what the date was, sometime in July.

our wedding anniversary is the day we got married in mexico and we actually did tell some people, but to us October 19th is when we got married, we wrote the whole ceremony ourselves and it was much more meaningful than our "legal" ceremony.

But do whatever is best for you. At first I wouldn't have even thought of doing just a symbolic ceremony because I thought it would take away from the day, but it was so much simpler and it didn't make our wedding day any less important.

Thank you!!!!smile03.gif

So I got the quotes from Claudia on the PP price for the reception at the resort and almost fell out because we are having a HUGE reception at home.

Has anyone ever thought of taking the wedding party to Carlos n Charlies or Margaritaville for a fun reception after the wedding? Will they take reservations for large parties if you call in advance? I think that would be WAY cheaper than $45+tax PP, expecially since we are getting married at 11AM.

Just a thought. We have a fun group, so I don't think it would matter to them. We guesstimate that there will be about 40 of us.

Thoughts? Would love input from everyone. Thanks in advance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
