she will reserve the date for you and send you a contract that must be filled out (don't worry you can change almost everything later), and most importantly, send your deposit. i wish i could tell you how much the deposit is, but some people, like myself, had to pay only $500 deposit, while others had to pay half the total package price. once your contract and deposit are taken care of, your date is set in stone.

just checking ... you're doing a symbolic ceremony, right? legal ceremonies can't be held on weekends.

Oh wow, I had no idea that you couldnt' have legal ceremonies on the weekend. We were trying to decide between the two, I guess that makes that decision easier!

I somehow caught Gaby on a good day yesterday and actually ended up emailing back and forth with her a few times, so I got the Q&A filled out and sent back, hopefully she'll send me a contract soon and I will really feel official :)

Hello! Um, I had no idea that Legal Ceremonies couldn't be performed on weekends. My contract with Dreams says "Legal" for the Ceremony and the date is Nov 14 - which is a Saturday. Where did you find this info? I'm a little worried.....HELP!

Hey folks, I have a couple other questions that really is just some clarification on my end:

The Dreams website says

"Bride & Groom must arrive four business days prior to the ceremony! (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays do not count)."

*If we arrive on a Tuesday, and are getting married on a Saturday...this meets the requirements - yes?

Secondly, has anyone on the site recently sent wire payment to photographer Cecilia Dumas? If so please Private Message me, I have a question...

Thanks so much!smile03.gif

Me again - sorry about the 3 posts in a row. I'm obviously having a rough morning. I just found this on the Dreams website:

"Mexico requires that you be in the country at least four business days prior. Saturdays, Sundays and Mexican holidays do not count. Your arrival day does not count toward the “business day†requirement. You must arrive four FULL business days prior."

So that answers my question above, that we'll need to arrive Monday. I do not understand why they don't put all of this together in one paragraph. bunny_4.gif

Hi Brides! I'm hoping to get married 11/7/09 but we haven't booked it yet. I got an email from Gaby w/prices and we're going over those details now. She hasn't mentioned that date is taken so I think it will be less crowded that time of year. We're kind of doing this at the last minute so I'm hoping everything will work out OK. We just want a simple ceremony and dinner & drinks. We're debating a DJ and definitely getting a photographer, the centerpieces I think I will bring myself.

We want the free wedding so we're booking 7 nights in the honeymoon suite, but I read that Palace Resorts doesn't honor this if you book through a travel agent, does anyone know if that's true for Dreams Cancun too??

CONGRATS EVERYONE! I'm so glad I joined this site and now have a community of other ladies to go through all this with :) CHEERS! ~Lea

Just to clarify you can have a legal wedding on Saturdays, it's Sundays that you can not.

From the list of available dates I got from Claudia a week or two ago, November 7th is not available.

These are the November dates that were available when she sent me the list, but I know a few have been taken already. Sometimes though they will let you have the wedding the same day as someone else as long as yours is at a different time. But I would definitely ask Gaby if that date is available and not assume.

Here's the dates:

For November 2009 I have available: 1,2,3,5,8,15,16,17,18,19,20,23,24,29

And as far as November being less busy, it's actually the first month after hurricane season ends, so it's actually when it starts to get busy again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
