Quite beach for ceremony? (playa del carmen)

Hi all,

I am at the VERY beginning of looking into locations but one thing I noticed is in the RM posts almost all are for resort weddings. We are planning to come in by cruise ship and want a early morning wedding with a lunch reception at La cueva del chango.

 

Are there any quite beaches near Playa del Carmen & La cueva del chango? Or should we be looking into having the ceremony at a resort there and going outside for reception?

I just went to the website of cueva del chango. So cute!

 

I've been in contact with a few wedding coordinators in the area about beach weddings are there in one that organises beach weddings on a semi-private beach area of Playacar, which is at the other end of where the Cueva is located. Before the resort area of Playacar. I am considering this place if I don't do it as a resort. They're Caribbean Blue Weddings. The quote I recieved was about $1100 and included their fee, use of the location, chairs covered with cloth and ribbons, simple decor, a decorated arch, the ceremony itself and a champagne toast for 30 persons.

 

Ajua Weddings is another organizer that has access to lots of private beaches and they are good about emailing. Their quote was a bit steep for my budget.

Here's the secret. All the beaches in Mexico are Federal Lands, like a National Park. The first 25 meters of beach are open to everybody, you are free to do as you please there, including getting married. There are several public access points to the beach in Playa del Carmen. The road of Cueva del Chango (Calle Treinta Ocho) is one of these public access points, even though it goes right through Shangri-La. You can enter here and get married right in front of Shangri-La, or you can enter a block north and get married in front of a vacant lot. You're wedding coordinators may, or may not be into doing this since they want you to buy their package.

 

One block north of Cueva del Chango is a public access point and to the left is a vacant lot. In the morning it will likely be empty. It would be a pleasant walk from here to Cueva, which is an awesome restaurant.

In doing research that is one thing that is never mentioned! That really opens up the possibilities then. Carla
