Sending Deposits

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else feel really weird about sending the deposits? I feel like I am just sending these checks with no real accountibility. For those who used Maye, she asked me for a check that she can give as a deposit to the musicians. I feel weird though cause I have no contract with Maye and have never even spoke to the musicians. What did you guys do?

Alisa,

I'm using Maye too. I totally know what you mean, that's how I felt in the begining too. I'm actually getting ready to send Maye a check for our rehearsal dinner deposit. I just document everything, I send the check to her bank by mail address & I'm ok with it. I feel ok because several other ladies on this board have used her & not had a problem.

I agree its kind of scary just sending all this money especially when things are so far away and you have never met them before. I agree with Christa though as long as the person has a good reputation I feel okay sending things. I guess you just have to be careful to document everything just in case.

Glenda - no, I just had to pay her $400 which is 50% of her coordination fee.

Angie,
I had to send my venue deposit to San Diego for Cabo...I think it's common for these properties to have a US business address to make their banking easier. It's difficult to turn a US check into cash in a foreign country. But, I like your certified idea :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
