Confused and in need of some Help!!!!:)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me a brief overview of the dinner/reception options?! I have read a lot about this, but still slightly confused!!!!!!

Is it possible to have the dinner at one of the resturants and then move to the beach for the dance/drinks? Or, if I have a beach reception does the dinner have to be on the beach as well? If so, what types of food would that include?

Do most people hire a DJ for the dance/reception? Would you also bring a cd with "your song" on it? How does this work?!

Also, does anyone know the wedding coordinators (Chandlyn Edwards) contact info-email address?

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!

I would try searching the forums b/c those have been answered. Personally I just had my dinner and reception in the mammee bay. You can also have it at the Plantation. Or you can have a beach reception but I'm not sure of the price. Maybe someone else can answer that who's done it. I did not hire a DJ but you can and you can rent the disco for that if you wanted. I brought a cd with my music for the ceremony and I think you can bring one for the DJ as well. I didn't do this but I'm sure someone else has the answers for you. Or try searching at the top.

Chandlyn's email is weddings.ori@riu.com

You can have dinner at Mammee Bay for free or pay to have it private at the Plantation, then you can pay $10pp to have the Seagrape Beach bar open for drinks. If you want a DJ at the beach that is an additional charge ($250 i think) or you can bring CDs and lots of people bring ipods with the Bose sound dock. OR, you can rent the disco for 2 hours for $250 which includes bartender and dj.

We brought a cd with our first song and had the DJ play it.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!
I think bbq is the only menu option if you do poolside or beach dinner. Hope that helps.

I've heard of a few people who had their dinner at Mammee Bay (the standard aka free option) then had a beach reception at the Seagrape Bar on the beach. I think it costs $10/person for the bartender to be there. You can hire a DJ or do your own music IIRC. I also saw someone having their dinner on the beach while we were there. I don't even want to guess at how much that would cost! We toyed with the idea of a beach party after the dinner but ended up calling it a night after dinner. I'm so glad we did cause I was exhausted by that time and very ready to find some A/C and PJ's!

I'm of no help because there are only 6 of us in total going so we are having dinner (part of the package) and then we are probably going to pull up some chairs/tables at the lobby bar (or wherever) and hanging out together.

I think I will also do my first dance, cake cutting right after the ceremony before/after we do pics. I'm also looking into a afternoon cruise, dinner, drinks and then bed.

I've heard alot about renting Seagrape, bartender, dj etc. but I really think it depends on how many people you have going.

Good Luck!

Dinner

Beach or poolside dinner is 50$/person

Mammee Bay is free and semi-private

Plantation 500$ for 2h and 1000$ for 4h and it's private (if you're there for 4h you can have your reception there as well)

Reception

Disco is 250$ for 9h-11h that include drinks and dj

Seagrape beach bar 10$/person for open bar, I think it's 150$/hr for dj. If you want to bring your own music and rent the speakers it's 50$/hr or you can bring your own music and speaker.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just heard back from Chandlyn, (I wrote this in another thread too) that after booking my dinner at Mammee, and then finding out that I could not book out the Seagrape because its already book, Chandlyn said we could do a reception by the pool or at the disco.......so that makes me think that you can set something up by the pool and not have the dinner...I am going to investigate this more!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
