Sabrina,

Yes, you have to pay for your outside photographer to stay at Barcelo for at least one night (your wedding day). A photographer is very important to FI and I, so we don't mind paying for his stay. It really depends on what photographer you're interested in. I'd advise you to find out who their photographer is at Barcelo and view their portfolio. Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

I got some clarification from Claudia regarding options for ceremony music included in the packages for 2010.

Here's what she told me:

"The music included in the wedding packages are the following:

Violin, Saxophone, Flute, Musician ( guitar and keyboard)

Mariachi band in no longer included for the ceremony.

However you can get them for the reception 45 min $ 400.00usd."

I also asked if the speakers and microphone were still free with the package and she said yes.

"The audio system that is included is one big speaker were you can plug in your I pod and Cd´s and also a microphone is included"

Such a bummer the mariachi is no longer an option. Has anyone selected the guitar and keyboard for their ceremony? If so how were they?

Sandra, do you have an outside photographer? If so, do you how much it is for one night for them to stay?

I looked at the website for the photographer at the Barcelo and I didn't like his pictures at all.

Does any one have any recommendations for a photographer.....OR one that is coming from their home town and staying at the Barcelo Maya Palace with them the week of April 5th, 2010 to see if their interested in doing another wedding while their there.

Hey Sabrina,

I was looking at the photographers work at the Barcelo and didn't like it either. We are hiring a photographer from the mayan to do our pictures, we do have to book them into the hotel ( we are staying at the Colonial but will book them into the beach/caribe because it is cheaper)

I was looking at bring one from home but it can be quite expensive with travel expenses and the photography rates. I actually have the email of a girl from somewhere in Ontario that does destination weddings, I haven't got her rates yet but if you want me to pass her email on I will.

Sabrina

I am having an outside photographer and I do have to pay one night for them.. currently one night (for July 2010) is $296 but I'm holding out to get a better deal :)

It's still cheaper than the $300-500 fee's that some resorts charge...

Being that we both fell in love with Juan Carlos Tapia (he's in Cabo) photographer early on...we decided to go with him and fly him out for 3 nights. We have our wedding day shoot but we also have a trash the dress shoot the following day (we're sooooooo excited about this!!!). If we hadn't gone with Juan, we would have chosen Elizabeth Medina. She's just as talented and is on the Riviera side, but still 3 hours away from our resort, so she'd still have to be booked a night. I don't know how important photographer is to you guys, but that was the one thing we weren't going to skimp on. Our pictures will be a lifetime of memories to look at :)

Hey Ladies,

ok I guess the hunt begins with finding a photographer outside the resort. We're staying at the Paalce so I will take your advice Danielle and book at one of the cheaper resorts (beach/caribe). Would I have to book a room now already for April 2010? I'm sure if I wait there will be something open.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
