Also, we sent out a Save the Date which directed them to the website with additional information on how to book if they wanted to attend (we never sent out formal wedding invites).  Here's a link to the site, if you are looking for ideas on information to share with your guests:   http://www.weddingwire.com/caseyandbrandon

Hi All - We got married on April 5, 2013 and I finally just posted a Facebook album!  Thought I would share with you as well, as I know it was super helpful to see actual photos of weddings at the resort when I was planning.

- Strawberry Passion package (65 Guests)

- Claudia was our WC... AMAZING!

- Grooms dinner at the French restaurant (Claudia booked this for us ahead of time)

- Used Syling Trio for Bridesmaids' hair/make-up and my make-up

- Ceremony on Coral Beach (Loved our location - on the beach, overlooking rocks without any bystanders)

- Outdoor reception on Palmeras Beach, outside the grill

- Added light up dance floor (brought our iPod to play through the speakers - worked like a charm!)

- We hooked up microphones and speakers at both the ceremony and reception site, so our friends could sing/play guitar

- Flew down our own photographer and videographer

Here's the link to the photos:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10103936791390430&type=1&l=e3e1ff62a4

Let me know if you have any questions! Happy Planning!

HI!

Claudia is my wedding planner as well! We are getting married at the Tropical Oct 29, 2014 (tentative)... we arrive on Oct 26... not sure they will allow us to get married/have our ceremony that day yet, but it is reserved.

I notice from your pics you had a beach reception. I am worried about wind. I have been to mexico many times and have always found the beaches super windy at night! We were thinking of looking at the Palmeras grill for reception... but I wanted some input as to what people thought about the beach and the wind. Also if you have seen the palmeras. We have about 35 or so guests.

I am also wondering when the ACTUAL planning starts. So far we havent even picked a package but pretty much settled on Strawberry. However, have not heard anything from our wedding planner personally.. (i do have a destination wedding planner here in Vancouver being the middle man as well). Im assuming all the back and forth will start once we have confirmed deposits from our guests and the trip is paid in full in march?

also, do they have speaker and ipod hookup during the ceremony?

We are trying to budget for approx $5,000. Because on the second week my "husband" and I will be switching and going up to the Excellence Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon.

Coral beach is where we were thinking as well... is it private?

Im excited that Claudia was of great help for planning... there is a lot of uncertainty with mexico weddings!

So, after seeing pictures... I am sold on the coral beach wedding.. and palmeras beach reception!  with Palmeras grill as a backup if it rains!

I am soooooo excited!!!!! I just hope it doesn't rain, and it isn't too windy!

Because of Christmas my guests are choosing to wait until January to book. Cut off for deposits are Feb 1st. But im thinking approx. 35 people are coming give or take a few. We haven't been in contact with our wedding coordinator, only our travel agent wedding specialist has (she is going to take care of the details for us)

Question for brides, how the heck did you get your dresses down there? and also, for Strawberry Package.. who did you contact to book massages etc. I have heard you have to do this ahead of time as its part of your package!

Hi Ladies,

I haven't been on here in a while... Not used to this new format... Took me forever just to find this forum again... :(

Anyhoo, my wedding is next month, FINALLY!!! :) I finished the planning steps with my wedding coordinator Victoria months ago. Contact kind of stopped at that point, but I started wondering about our ceremony and reception locations. We have the Strawberry and both will be on the beach. I remember many posts from brides saying that their coordinator sent them pictures of the different locations, so I sent her an email. She replied saying both our ceremony and reception will be on Palmeras beach. I guess I don't even get options to look at or choose from? I do understand in a way... There are 5 or 6 weddings on February 14th, including mine. I'm sure every location will have a reception going on that night and its probably why it was never brought up to me or any pictures given to choose from.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows about Palmeras? I've seen reception pics from other brides, but I'm wondering how private it is during the ceremony?

P.S. Is anyone else on here a Valentines bride like me? I know there are 4 or 5 of you out there somewhere!! lol ;)

HEY :)

I looked up youtube videos on how to choose a location. While my wedding is not until Oct 29th, the location and reception area was the FIRST thing I put on hold.  I asked for the coral beach because there is nobody actually behind to swim into your photos. I have heard the palmeras beach is the main beach at the Tropical (the hotel we are staying at), but they do a good job keeping everyone away from the wedding area during (from what ive read). And then there is Playa Azul, is the furthest by the Maya Caribe, which apparently is GORGEOUS, but kind of an ordeal to get your guests over there.

check out youtube for Barceló Maya Tropical beach wedding, that gives you the basis of what the wedding will look like. I think I watched a girl named "lauren" her video was good on getting an overall feel! I have a feeling privacy is not something that exists in mexico for beach weddings... but honestly who cares!? You chose Mexico, which is already a non-traditional choice, so really, whats a couple extra people watching gonna do? :) And to be honest, I think you will only see your husband to be and your family/guests.

I am pretty sure I have read that someone had their wedding planner running around getting people out of the way :P

Where are you having your reception? I chose Palmeras Beach. Ive been concerned about wind, ... ill be excited to read your review when you come back :) I have a huge booklet of info for location if you want it. just PM me your email and I can send it to you :)

Thank you! Looking at the spreadsheet she sent me with A TON more info on it from before it has Palmeras beach for the reception but just beach listed for the ceremony box. I emailed Victoria asking her our options....

Thinking about it, they spread out the ceremonies throughout the day, so no 2 weddings are at the same time, so we should be able to get one of their more private locations. I saw some videos of the beach and Palmeras looks like the hub of the entire beachfront, complete with volleyball net. lol That's fine for our reception, but I'd be surprised if they did any ceremony there considering how many guests they would disrupt with a wedding, and how many other less busy areas of their beach they have.

Yeah I agree, im not too fond of the palmeras beach for ceremony. But, quite honestly, its Mexico. And you cant expect a lot from the privacy aspect.

I sent you a PM with my email, I really want to read all this extra info you received. I wish they would all send us the same stuff.. I actually wish it was all on their website, that would totally eliminate us bothering the W/C so much.

I am assuming once the high season for weddings is over, and we hit summer, the W/C and I will be corresponding much more

Who is your wc? I finished the planning steps back in May or June and my wc pretty much stopped contact with me at that point, through the summer... so hopefully yours will be a little more on the ball. Where are you on their planning steps?

My W/C is Claudia.

I have only decided on location, that's it. My Travel Agent wedding lady said that because now is high season for weddings we wont hear much regarding planning until spring/early summer. So other than reserving location, that is as far as we have gotten. I am totally fine with this. I have read good things about Claudia, so I am excited :)

On my end, we are looking at colours, dresses and the mens wear (now that Christmas is over the spring stuff is coming out in feb). Planning on bringing down napkins (because im not paying for their colours there... yes, I have read you have to PAY for them), small center piece things, guestbook, and party favors. That is the basics of what we are taking down.

We are either thinking a light pink, or an aqua blue colour (how original.. ha ha). The 4 groomsmen are

for some reason I cant quote posts..?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
