Hey ladies, Just had our wedding at the Barcelo Tropical on May 1st/ 13 and it was amazing!!!! I had never been to the resort, and when I had my meeting with Xhail the day before the wedding, we planned everything from the menu, flowers, locations, pick up times etc.  I was stressed because the details weren't ironed out before we left, but these wedding planners are very professional and accommodating and will make sure your day is perfect!  If anyone has any questions, please message me, and happy planning!
Hello, congrats on your big day! I'm also looking at tropical. How many people did you have? What was the ceremony and reception location? Did you use a DJ? And photographer? Thanks:(

Can someone tell me if there is a place in or close by the Palace Resort to buy sparklers, maracas, mini tequila bottles and a pinata?

Thanks!

Playa del Carmen is about 20 mins away and I'm SURE you could buy all those things there. So many little shops on 5th avenue. I know for sure we saw maracas, mini tequila bottles and I'm confident you could find pinatas and sparklers :) We took the shuttle there for 3 dollars each way and you just walk to the entrance of the hotel on the road and wait for the vans to stop and pick you up. Very easy!

There's also a little market type thing on the Barcelo property, I know when I was planning about a year ago lots of brides were talking About buying their stuff there. I'm not sure what the price difference is between there to Playa Del Carmen's 5th Ave but my guess is stuff will be cheaper and you can haggle more in town. The Town is great to go to for an afternoon of walking around too!

Does anyone have advice on how to communicate with all of your guests during their stay?  I know some people may have their cell phones available for use internationally, but not everyone will.  Just curious what others have done or plan to do to stay in touch and meet up with friends/family during your stay. Thanks!

Will all your guests be staying at the same resort? Although I have not had my wedding yet, I anticipate all my guests staying at the Maya Palace. What we plan to do is get everyones room number/extension that way we can call them before meeting up for breakfast/dinners/beach/etc. I'm sure there are other ways to keep in touch but that is what I have in mind so far.

We also did this and our people were split between the Colonial and Palace. We had welcome booklets for everyone with pictures of the people and who they were and a place for people to write in room #s. It seemed we often sat in the same area on the beach early in the day so people always knew where to find one another. The communicating with each other was a big concern for me before getting there but once we were there there were no issues. It seems like you are always telling people where you are going and what's happening but it works itself out :)

Thanks for the ideas ladies.  I also thought of putting a specific location for meeting in the morning in our welcome booklets and who ever wanted to hang out that day could meet.  I am glad to hear that it all works out.  We have 50-60 guests coming and they are staying between Palace and Colonial and possibly tropical as well.  I have been to the resort and know how big it is so it is a slight concern for me. It will all work out though!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
