Hi Michelle,

How many buildings are there for the Palace?  And what kinds of things changed?

Hope your stay and wedding went well!

We had a horrible check in so i would recommend you email ahead if you want a particular room/building etc. Also be prepared for things to change when you get to resort. Victoria was our WC and she did mess up a little but it all worked out in the end and we had a great stay and wedding there :o) just getting over the jetlag :o)

Hey Barcelo Brides

Does anyone know the vendor policy with photographers? We are booking La Luna Photo and wanted to know if it's the $300 plus day pass?

Such a rip off if it still is! I wish I looked into this before we booked this resort. So much EXTRA money to bring a photographer(s) in!

Has anyone brought in an outside photographer and instead of paying the $300 used the resort photographers for the welcome dinner or rehearsal dinner or TTD photos... but any way used them somewhere else so you got out of paying the $300 fee. Let me know your thoughts or ideas.

Carla, Lillian told me that an outside photographer is a fee of $300.  If you want them to be able to eat or drink, then you need to pay the day pass for them.  Hope that helps.

Hi Ladies,

We were just married at the Barcelo in April and we paid the $300 fee but no day passes.

I've posted about this before but make sure you pay the fee before the wedding day, we thought we could pay after but they held our photog at the gate and wouldn't let him into the hotel!!! My poor hubby had to run around getting money and going to the lobby when he should have been enjoying the day. It ended up making my photog over an hour late which obviously meant a lot of missed photos! I still can't believe that with all the money weddings bring to the hotel (we figure our group brought in about $90,000) they nickel and dime you for $300! They really need to change that policy it is just so tacky.

There are two buildings with room for the palace. We requested a pool view by our guests months before arrival and all our guests got a lovely room near each other most overlooking the pool and we were miles away overlooking some horrible bush! We checked in at 6pm and didn't get into our room till about 8.30ish after a 30min argument with the supervisor at the front desk. Plus the orginal room we were sent to they gave us the wrong key so we had the long walk back to reception to sort that out. Hubby had asked Victoria for champagne and strawberrys to be in our room on arrival which she promised him and there were none in either room!!!

We asked months in advance for the French restaurant for our evening meal which Victoria agreed (we even chose our time and set menu) on arrival at her meeting she told us it was closed that night (a chef convention was on which had been arranged for a year before!!!!!) so after another arguement she upgraded our meal to the Playa Azul. It all worked out lovely but she is a little un organised. We bumped into her one day and she said 'oh i have some more legal forms for you to sign' she hadn't chased us for those so god knows what would of happened if we hadn't bumped into her!!!

The outside photographer rule is $300 no other fee. You have to pay this before your wedding day and make sure you give the front desk the details of the photographer coming in. We didn't have any problems with this but we did have to pay before they let her in. Hubby went down and paid this on the morning of the wedding.

We had the resort company do our DVD and although the man was lovely we are not happy with the DVD it is very pose and we paid for an extra hour which was not worth the money he hardly edited any of the day. Just glad we have lovely photos to remember. I will upload next week.

Meggers, was your photographer able to eat and drink throughout the day as Lillian from Barcelo explained to me that was what the day pass covered.  I agree that they should get rid of that policy but it seems like a slow process - first no outside photographers and now they allow them for a fee.  Maybe soon there will not be a fee!

That is awful.  Did you use a TA or did you organize the travel arrangements on your own?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
