For those lucky brides that have already had their wedding at the Barcelo, would you recommend bringing outside decorations?  I'm trying to decide whether to pack an extra suitcase of decorations or just leave it up to the resort to decorate.  Did you use the decor that you brought (for those that packed along decorations) ?  What do you wish you brought or did you find that they do an OK job of flowers and decor?  Thanks for your help and advice!

So I am less than 6 months away from my wedding at Barcelo! I am starting to feel so overwhelmed with planning a wedding from Texas and its hard when you have so many questions!!

My wedding will be July 20, 2013 at 6pm! I already booked my photographer Gonzalo Nunez and I still haven't decided if I want the Mint Breeze or Strawberry passion package, I am leaning for the Strawberry. I also am not sure if I should do a DJ or not. And the light up dance floor looks so pretty for a wedding on the beach! If you have any advice or insight or any free time and would like to help me out email me! danelifernandez@yahoo.com I would love to hear all about your wedding and the details! Inspiration is the best kind of help :)

Anyone know of a good videographer and know of prices? Does the resort offer this service and are they any good??

Hi I was hoping someone can help me! I leave on Sunday to the Barcelo Palace, I am getting married at the Gazebo like in the pictures above but have no idea where it is, what restuarant is it close too? My dinner is supposed to be at the Palmeras Grill, is this anywheres near the Gazebo? Thanks in advance if anyone can give me any insight!!

Yes palmeras grill is just down the beach walkway a little ways, it isn't the very closest restaurant to the gazebo but it would take just a minute or two to walk from one to the other. On your first day at the resort you will figure it all out! Or if you are a visual person check out the map http://www.resortsmaps.com/maps/map-BarceloMayaComplex-RivMaya.jpg palmeras is #34 and the gazebo is the white dot in front of #39. The map makes it look further than it is though.

I brought outside decorations... since my husband is Mexican, we brought shot glasses, papel picado, baskets of traditional candies, etc...  The shot glasses ended up being the name place cards for the tables.  As for the decorations at the resort, she put candles on the tables and loose pedals that matched our color scheme.  She also tied each chair with colors of our wedding...  hmm... with or without decorations I think it would have looked great either way.  Between the 2 of us we had 4 pieces of luggage (we came from DC)...  There is nothing I wish I had brought or did not bring.  They do a fabulous job of decorating with what they have.  We brought masking tape and scotch tape and a scissors - which was SO handy - not so much for decorating, but for other things that come up.

i did a lot of DIY stuff so brought down two carry ons of decoration stuff. We brought down our own centrepieces, they were 3 glass vases per table with purple cellophane in them and water poured into them with a organza flower and purple led light on top. We also brought down turquoise glass beads to scatter on the table as well as personalized napkins and menu cards. The centrepieces they had were just too pricey for us, I didn't want to pay upwards to $20 per vase on each table. Although a previous bride/groom on here said they can rent them to you for $5 a vase too! Their flowers are always wonderful at the resort, as far as I've seen! We also took down champagne flutes we painted with our colours, pictures in frames for our guest book table, the guest book message In a bottle stuff and our favors. We felt all the things we brought added lots of colour and decoration to the tables. Here are some pics of our stuff 400[/img][/img][/img]

I THINK, if I remember correctly, that if you go with an outside DJ, the light up floor is cheaper than what the Barcelo offers you.  In the end, we did the math and the outside DJ was a bit cheaper and they were great!  (discomovil)

Our videographer was Jorge Dominguez from Cinematik Weddings:  http://cinematikweds.com/  He should provide us a "preview" in about 2 more weeks - but check out his work and see if you like it.  I can send you the prices he quoted us if you are interested.

Videographers are expensive and so we probably got about 25 different quotes.  In the end we did not go with the cheapest but we liked his work and he was one of the cheaper ones.  I don't know if the resort offers the videographer service...  the resort photography is a definite problem that the barcelo should fix.  They completely annoyed us to no end, calling every hour on the hour.

Hi!  We got married in the chapel but had our reception in the Coral Grille which is the closest restaurant to the Gazebo.  We had the cocktail hour right above the Coral Grille so it was all relatively close.  Our only complaint about the Coral Grille was that it was SO HOT... we asked them to close the windows and turn on the AC but it was missing a window pane.  I don't know how many people you are having at your wedding but I think they leave the Coral Grille to larger groups.  Every other night we were there, it was used as a Japanese Restaurant.

Yes, we also did a lot of DIY...  I think it's better - especially for a destination wedding - everyone complimented us on all of our little details.  700

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
