Has anyone used or heard anything about Juan Navarro or Blue Lens Caribe? They had better portfolios than barcelo experience but still affordable. I loved Claudia and Ivan (which all got good recommendations on here) but they were a little out of my budget:(. mrs

mrsnov- I am getting married at the Palace Deluxe on 3/22/13 and asked my WC about the $500 fee and she said it is waived if you book a 2 nights for the photographer. You can book any Barcelo hotel which would be cheaper than paying the $500 fee. On your wedding day anyone that is a guest staying that at a different Barcelo is allow to be at the wedding at no additional charge. That would include the photographer. I have also read that some brides booked only one night for the photographer and the the WC never questioned them. I dont know if that is a chance you are willing to take but I thought I would just mention it. Also I was going with the mint breeze package as well and to have my reception outdoors I had to change to Strawberry package. I have read in a previous post as well that a bride had the mint breeze and said the pesto chicken was amazing...?

Does anyone know why the Mint breeze package is only $27.00 a person after 20 and the Strawberry passion package is $66.00 a person after 15 people? Why is there such a big jump in price? What do the guest get more of for the price to jump big of a difference? I have asked me WC twice and still no response to I was wondering if anyone that has had their wedding at the Palace or is about to could answer that question. Do the guest get a better selection of food? Desserts?

strawberry passion allows you to have a beach reception where the mint breeze does not.

Unfortunately the hotel changed their minimum night stay to 3 nights (don't know if this is starting in 2013 or is just the time of year my wedding is). So it is cheaper to pay the $500 than 3 nights.

Yea its a bummer to have to have the reception indoors with the mint package but because we will have around 50 guests it was just too much with the strawberry package to add all the extra people! So we decided to make the best of it and hey its only 3 hours of your whole trip and you will be on the beach the rest of the time and it will be air conditioned :).  The pesto chicken did sound good a safe choice for all guests, unfortunately I have nut allergies and usually pesto is off limits for me.

From reading on here it looks like the menu is different with the mint and strawberry. Here was the menu that my WC sent me and at the top it says "Banquet Room Menu" (sorry it copied weird). And I have been seeing people talk about surf and turf options and lobster bisque, etc which is likely the strawberry package. We aren't too worried about the food because people can eat at the resort elsewhere before/after if they don't like it hehe :D. Too hard to please everyone with 50 + guests and no option to have choices for them.

Also the strawberry package includes a mani/pedi and makeup and hair for bride at the resort spa.

Not sure if this attachment will work, but I found this on here somewhere. It is a comparison of the wedding packages done by a very organized bride :)

sorry the menu is different as well.

For us, the beach reception was a must. I completely understand if people don't have the extra money to do it.  Even though with 71 people it cost us an extra $3K-$4K we felt like people sacrificed so much time and money to be there that they deserved something spectacular. Plus, it's pretty cool to say you had a reception on the beach :)

Hint: If you're struggling with paying for the wedding Capital One has a 15 month 0% interest credit card with no APR. It also has no international transaction fees. We swiped our whole wedding and divided it by 15. Made life a lot easier.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
