So instead we opted to have our legalities here which is basically just signing some paperwork at town hall with a witness a couple weeks before. We'll consider our wedding THE DAY of course because that's when we're exchanging our vows and I'm wearing my beautiful gown :)

Hi Brandy!!! Is my wedding day the date you're arriving? That is not creepy at all, lol. You're more than welcome to sneak by and catch a glimpse :) Welcome to the site, you're going to love it!! There is sooooooooooooooooooooo much great information! Good luck with all your planning :) I'm in the midst of painting maracas, lol. How exciting!
Hey Sandra!! Where did you get the maracas?? Do you think it will be too much to bring down to Mexico or is this for an event you are planning at home??

Hi!!!!! I ordered them from Genuine Maracas - PartyMart: party supplies

They came painted, but I'm priming them and painting over them (handle in all) in orange (our wedding color) and freehanding a floral pattern. They are actually real wood and a nice size. The paint job is horrible though! But for a little over $1 a piece, they were worth it! Yes, we'll be taking them down with us. Well, either us or one of our parents. We are only planning on around 40 guests and each will get 1 at their place setting during dinner. I was going to have them during our ceremony, but 1. i'm afraid the kids will start shaking them like crazy and 2. we decided we wanted petals for everyone to throw instead. If you need help with anything or have any questions, let me know!

Oh oh, don't use that email! That one goes directly to Ana, who is the senior coordinator in the department, and she has a tendency to take FOREVER to answer. Each WC has a distinct email. I just called yesterday and got the email directly to Xhail. I will wrangle up the phone number at some point today (FI has my car with my wedding folder in it.)

Laura,

They are different parts of the resort. The Palace is a bit more upscale (all suites), and is situated away from the rest of the buildings on the property, also at the Palace you have access to the Tropical, Colonial, Beach, and Caribbe. If you stayed at the tropical you would not have access to the Palace.

Both are very nice properties, though, and they both have different reasons that they're appealing. The tropical has a bit of a better beach, and is closer to all of the water sports.

Can anyone post the dollar amounts of the Under the Stars and Oceans Scents package for 2009? I have emailed the wedding coordinators there a few days ago and have heard no response so far (which is normal from what I read). I tried going on the Unofficial Barcelo Maya website, but it only has 2008 package prices.

Thanks,

Steph

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
