It's hard to break it down for rates as ours is a package deal also. But if I take the total package price (flight, AI stay, transfers, and insurances) and divide it by the nights we are staying (9) it comes out to ~$233.00 per night. For some of our guests who are staying approx 5 nights, their prices were ~$275.00 per night. The prices were higher as they booked several weeks after I had, and airfares increased during those weekssad.gif If only they had booked when I asked them to!!!!! Anyhow, I didn't think this was too bad figuring these prices included air/transfers/insurance and the resort.

Hi Ladies,

I am just wondering if anyone else has Gabriela for a wchuh.gif? I am getting married at the Colonial, January 5, and I haven't heard from her in over a month, I have so many questions about the reception and set up and the would like to know about menu options, but she has not returned my last 3 emails. What should I do?

I had Gabriela as WC, got married July 18th 2009 and honestly did not hear from her much! I know it is so frustrating when it is so close to your wedding and no emails! I promise you though and I know everyone says the same thing... they are so, so so busy down there (Gabriela told me they do sometimes 65 a month!) that when your wedding does come closer... they will be on your beck and call! I was a worried wort all last winter and to think of all the wasted hours I spend stressing about nothing! I would not stress.... and if all else fails! Call them! I did a lot wink.gif
I hope this helps!

For me, it was a combination of things. Having stayed at the Barcelo Tropical in '06, I knew that this place had an amazing stretch of soft white sand, not rocky beach like some of the other resorts I had stayed at in RM. It had something for everyone, We have many single guests, so we wanted a place that was fun, not too couple-y..but still romantic. We also wanted a good variety of activities which Barcelo has on sight. For the actual wedding, I was looking for a place with a gazebo set up as I didn't want to be married right on the beach, but wanted a beach view from the gazebo and of all the resorts, I liked this gazebo the best. I know it's not very private, but it had the view I was looking for. At the time we picked, it also had fairly relaxed rules about outside photographers.(Although their rules have changed, there are still ways to get around it!) It's not too far from the airport, like Tulum, which was a long drive from Cancun. Finally, for me, who has a very sensitive stomach, the food and water at this resort did not make me sick!!! When I stayed at a resort in Tulum in '05, I became very ill, even though I only drank bottled water and followed all "the rules"...So that was a big bonus. Nobody wants to be feeling like that on their big day!

For all you Barcelo Brides, what was it that sold this resort to you as "THE ONE" to have your wedding at?
Have you visited the 2 resorts you are considering? We toured the Barcelo Maya Palace and the Gran Porto Real. The only thing we really liked about the Porto Real was it's location. Being able to walk out the door and be on 5th Ave is really cool. The lobby and rooms were unimpressive at the Real and the pool/ beach area seemed run down. The Royal across the street was very nice but that is a whole different price point.

The Barcelo grounds are stunning.

good luck!

Hi ladies,

I am getting married at the Barcelo on May 27th, 2010. Our wedding coordinator sent us an email saying that our wedding was 'on hold' and would be 'confirmed' once we booked our trips. Our trips are booked and I emailed Victoria about 1.5 weeks ago about the confirmation ... but have not heard back from her yet. I was just wondering what everyone elses experiences were with 'holding' vs. 'confirming' your wedding date. Did you receive some sort of official confirmation email? Thank you so much for the help!

Once we had our trip booked, I sent the WC a copy of our travel manifest via scanned email. I heard back from her about 1 week later and she confirmed our date and time were now "officially" booked for our wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
