I am definitely doing Strawberry Passion. I haven't decided if the reception will be on the beach or in the open air, but the whole reason for the DW for me was to be on the beach! The one thing that does scare me as well is the extra $66/person, but I figure if my guests are willing to pay to come to the wedding I can splurge a bit for the perfect reception. I'm estimating we won't have more than 30 guests, so an extra $1000 isn't too bad. I really do like the option of the French restaurant as well.

I had initially decided on the Strawberry Passion package because of the outdoor private reception..but now I'm having second thoughts.. What I'm concerned with is 1) that the package only covers the cost of 15 guest and then it's 66$/pp extra, which could definitely add up... and 2) I'm debatting if it would be better to have the reception indoors, in an air conditionned location, making sure everyone is comfortable and not too hot... but then I would have to compromise on the beauty of the surroundings... I've heard that it gets really windy at night, so I definitely don't want my guests eating sand with their supper! ;-) Or do I go with my original plan to have the reception in one of the open-air restaurants, like the Palmeras Grill... !!! I just don't know what to do....

What are all of you doing??

Xhail said I could do that but would have to upgrade to strawberry passion which I was considering because my dream was to not have a banquet room. Currently I think I'm going to stick with Strawberry Passion but if something comes up and I need to cut costs I'll return to the mint breeze package. I can't say I'm much help as I'm having a lot of trouble with this decision myself!
Xhail said you can do the French rest?? How many people are you expecting? We have 50 and we were told no to the French rest...even though we were willing to pay extra.
Planning to do the open-air restaurant with the Strawberry Passion.

FYI...I hear it is warm in May even in the outside restaurant. Keep that in mind...maybe others can offer their experience. Good Luck!!

Not sure about the days...I was just told your party has to be under 30 for the ala carte restuarants. We are going back and forth about this now with my WC.

I've contacted Adrian and got all the scoop. The cost of makeup would be $150 for the wedding day. If you want a trial, say for your rehearsal/welcome dinner, that would be $75. His travel cost is $25. Definitely a bit pricey as is. But that wouldn't be the only costs involved. A day pass would have to be paid to Barcelo to have him come into the resort, unless he is snuck in some how. That is another $90. All of that money for makeup? I mean, it is for my wedding and I will be photographed! But, it all just adds up, I'd have to choose what's most important to me and us. I haven't heard anything about their spa as far as makeup is concerned. I have no problem bringing my own and getting myself done up, but with my nerves and excitement, I may end up with eyeliner all over the place, haha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
