I have learned that patience is key :) I would also suggest calling to reserve your date but be prepared that they won't answer emails right away going forward. However, I think communication improves as it gets closer to your wedding date so don't worry about the lag in response.

Happy Planning!!! I'm also considering Barcelo Maya Palace for my wedding :)

I would recommend you call the resort directly and speak with one of the wedding coordinators.. that's what I did to reserve my date.. so far in my experience, it takes 1-2 weeks before getting a response from them via email. So, that's my advice in order for you to be able to move ahead with your travel plans .... I bought a calling card from Walmart to make the call.. once I spoke to Gabriela, it only took 5 minutes to have my date and time put on hold.. let me know if you need the contact info for the resort!

Thanks Natalie! I have been getting really freaked out, your post has definately calmed me down. I was just getting to the point where I was going to call the resort to hopefully get a better result. I am hoping for April 16th, that is the date I had emailed about anyways, 2 days after you so we would be there at the same time if it works out.
I really appreciate your suggestion.

Hi Ladies!! I need some help... I'm wondering what wedding package everyone is going with??

I had initially decided on the Strawberry Passion package because of the outdoor private reception..but now I'm having second thoughts.. What I'm concerned with is 1) that the package only covers the cost of 15 guest and then it's 66$/pp extra, which could definitely add up... and 2) I'm debatting if it would be better to have the reception indoors, in an air conditionned location, making sure everyone is comfortable and not too hot... but then I would have to compromise on the beauty of the surroundings... I've heard that it gets really windy at night, so I definitely don't want my guests eating sand with their supper! ;-) Or do I go with my original plan to have the reception in one of the open-air restaurants, like the Palmeras Grill... !!! I just don't know what to do....

What are all of you doing??

Maybe the best for you would be a compromise and go with an open air grill? I personally chose the Mint Breeze mostly for cost, and also I hate eating outside, LOL Plus I am getting married in February and from what I hear it can get quite cool at night then.

I would definitely be concerned about the wind... interesting to see what brides thought of the outdoor reception. I know everyone seems to love it, but there has to be cons... like sand, wind and bugs.

I'm going with the Mint Breeze simply because I can't justify $66 per person for the dinner. Plus, I'm getting married in January so I think the banquet room will be fine with the wind and cooler weather. I am considering adding on a cocktail hour outside before the reception and possibly the mariachi band.

I'm also debating with this as well. I at first thought I would like the mint breeze because it includes 20 people plus it's more cost efficient, as I really don't need a lot that's included. Then I asked about having my reception in the French restaurant after seeing Erin's great pics! Xhail said I could do that but would have to upgrade to strawberry passion which I was considering because my dream was to not have a banquet room. Currently I think I'm going to stick with Strawberry Passion but if something comes up and I need to cut costs I'll return to the mint breeze package. I can't say I'm much help as I'm having a lot of trouble with this decision myself!

I was just wondering if anyone knew what package would allow you to have dinner in and "open air" restaurant and how many people one of these would hold. I originally wanted a reception on the beach, but the Strawberry package is SO EXPENSIVE. I don't want to have the reception in a banquet room because I want to enjoy the beachy Mexico feel.

Sorry if this question has already been answered - I have read this ENTIRE thread, but I didn't even consider this until I was already on page 64!

Thanks!

Becky

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
