Also, anyone used the floral arrangments the hotel provides? Claudia sent me a PDF of images of some examples, but I'm not crazy about the style of the centerpeices. Anyone know if they are flexible if I sent her a pic of what I want, can she make it?
Also, if anyone was wondering, Claudia told me that for the rehearsal dinner she can't accept reservations of more than 30 people. She will get a guest list three weeks before the wedding and will make the reservation for us.
Also, I got with my travel agent today and they are working their magic on a deal and also on bulk air. I will let you know what they come back with.
MObride.....if we end up with bulk air and most of your guest list is leaving from STL, that could work out for you, so let me know if you wanna jump on the plane.
Hey there! Would you mind sending me the PDF on the flowers as well?? I think they are able to pretty much accomodate any wishes you would have on flowers and centerpieces as they have outside vendors they contract with from what I've been told. There would be an extra cost involved for these special arrangements though. How much extra I'm not surehuh.gif If you have pictures of bouquets you have in mind it might be a good idea to email the WC's your inspirations to maybe get an estimate?? Here is my email for the PDF and thanks so much!!!! jerimarine@hotmail.com
Thanks for the offer on the bulk air.! Our flights have already been booked and we would have to pay fees to change our arrangements, but if your TA is looking at American Airlines, we are on the flight leaving STL at 8:30 AM and connecting in Dallas to arrive in Cancun at 1:30 pm. !cheers.gif

Erica, I have a few more questions for you :-)

I'm thinking about getting a band for the cocktail hour, would you recommend the mariachi or something different. It looked like you had a jazz band or something. Does Barcelo charge you a fee to let an outside band in?

Did Barcelo make your cake? Or did any outside bakery do that? Did you just bring a picture of what you wanted?

For the cocktail hour, do you know how much it is per person to have the apps?

One more, do you know if you can request specific drinks for cocktail hour/reception? My colors are blue and green and I think it would be awesome to have some type of blue drink for the cocktail hour.

Thanks for all your help!

Hope I can answer some questions! Depending on the package you choose, you WILL have a cake! It will either be 1 tier, or 2 tier which is included in the price and will have colors that match your wedding. If you upgrade, that comes with an additional fee. But really, who eats all that cake anyways? LOL. The only real purpose it serves is for cutting and feeding each other for a few pics!

The cocktail hour prices vary. The cheapest is $14.50 per person and it's a Mexican theme (ie, guacamole, tacos, quesadillas, empanadas, etc)...there's also an International theme or Caribbean. I have that file if anyone wants me to email it to them. Open bar is available during cocktail also. That is $11.00 per person, per hour for domestic and $14.00 for international.

Yes, cocktails can be themed around your colors! I asked that already because mine are orange and pink. Instead of a champagne toast after we walk down the aisle, I wanted festive strawberry margaritas with an orange umbrella or flower (virgin ones for the kiddies!)...and this can be done! Makes for a fun pic too :)

As an example, our ceremony is at 4:00pm. Cocktail hour will be from 5-7pm. We have 30 guests so that brings us to $1,095 for 8 hor'dorves (not sure how to spell, sorry!) choices and 2 hours of open bar. It can either be set up by the pool, grill, rooftop, etc. Really, wherever there is an open space, but not necessarily where your reception will be. Hope this helps!

I completely agree. I can't justify spending that kind of money when everything is free there, how does that make sense?

hey guys- my TA brought up a valid question. As sickening as I think this is, the reality is a lot of resorts have policies on allowing Mexican residents onto their resorts as guests... My photographer is Mexican... am I going to have a problem because we are booking him a room and putting him on the guest list. Has any past brides hired a Mexican Photographer since the policy of no external vendors changed? *I hate having to ask these questions... it's just so wrong.

Heard back from Claudia and she said that the flowers on the PDF were only examples, but that she has an entire book full of options in her office. She also told me I could email her a photo of what I want and that she would tell me if it was included in the quoted price for additional bouquets, etc or if there would be an upcharge. Flowers are one of those things that can literally be decided on the day you arrive.

Haven't heard anything back about the DJ though. I'm just going to go with the guy they provide because I'm not paying another $200 to have my own guy come in. Let's hope for the best.

Bought my dress yesterday! It's awesome and I'm so excited! I ordered my save the dates too, so I had a big day!

Hi Sandra,

Just wondering if there was an extra charge to change the drink from champagne toast to the margaritas after the wedding. I love this idea!

Thanks,

Steph

I asked about bringing DJMannia in and they said it was fine, but I'd have to pay the resort $50 per hour for electricity used. That's another $200 on top of what I'll already have to pay Mannia and I'm just not sure I wanna spend that much. I know NOTHING about the resident DJ yet. I'm waiting on a response from Claudia regarding if he has a website or anything. I'll post on here when I find out.

Sure, I'll email you the PDF of the flowers. I'm less than impressed with what I saw in the photos, so I asked Claudia if those are my only options. Waiting to hear back. I pray they aren't!

Well, I'm going to buy my dress and pick out BM dresses on Thursday so wish me luck!

Diamondpooch,
Wow, I got quoted $90 an hour for the external DJ's electricity and you were quoted $50?!?! I'm hiring an outside dj, but Ana told me it's $90 extra an hour! Hmmm....I hope it's actually $50/hour. It's not right to tell people different things, though so I reaaallly hope I was misquoted!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
