Hi! My name is Ashley and I am planning a May 2010 destination wedding. We stated at the Barcelo Maya Tropical a few years ago and LOVED it....so now we are considering the Barcelo Palace for our wedding. I understand packages are not out for 2010, but if anyone has wedding package info for 2009, could you email it to me? Thanks!! siuashley@yahoo.com

I stayed at the Barcelo Colonial/Tropical (same thing) a little over 2 years ago when it first opened. I thought it was wonderful. The air conditioned buffets were so clean and modern, not like some of the older results where the chairs for example are wooden and painted various tropical colours. I am very picky, and tend to like the more modern look of the new resorts and this place has that. The pool is so big, we brought our own blow up floaties to lie on in the pool. There is a great dock that goes out into the water and millions of fish hang out there, we often took some bread from the buffet out there. Wonderful opportunity for first time snorkelers. Also, if you like to party their disco is large and there is an upper VIP area, giving it a feel of a club in a larger city. The food was wonderful. The only negative thing I could say is that it would be wonderful if they had jacuzzi tubs in the room. Enjoy!

does anyone know if the $300 for the outside photographer applies if your photographer is actually staying at the resort for a week? I just received an email from Gabriela today, but they take forever to respond to questions. Thanks again ladies

I recently switched resorts from the Iberostar Paraiso to the Barcelo Maya Palace...I had stayed at the Beach side about 4 years ago and we had such a wonderful time that we knew our guests would also.

So I was wondering, when do you start really planning....like when will I choose where I want my reception (what restaurant) and all that? We already choose our package...I believe it was the Ocean Scents (I am horrible I don't even know my own package lol)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
