Hi everyone!

I recently got married at the Palace on June 27, 2015. We had a beach ceremony, cocktail hour on the beach, and then the reception at the Mariachi Grille. Everything was amazing!

To answer your question about the getting ready... My fiancé and groomsmen all ended up getting ready in our room and my bridesmaids and I got ready in my mother's room (which was a floor above us) since that is where I was keeping my dress anyway. It worked out well with the photographer. She went to do the groom getting ready, and then came to us before the ceremony to take "Getting ready" pictures.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I can try to answer them the best I can!

Thanks for your input!

My only problem is that all our guests are staying at the other hotels.. So my fiance would have to go to one of the guests rooms in the Tropical...

How accessible is the Tropical from the Palace, and vice versa? Is it walking distance?

Hello everyone! I had my wedding at the Barceló on July 18th. My ceremony was at the gazebo and the reception at Coral Beach, both at the Palace. My husband and I went with the Strawberry Package and my wedding coordinator was Estrella, who by the way is awesome! Everything was perfect and if I could change anything I would have added more time to the reception. As everyone always says, it went by too quickly!

We had a total of 31 people, and everybody had a great time.

If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to help! I'm attaching some pictures so you guys have an idea of how my wedding was set up.post-279393-0-25031700-1438655078_thumb.jpgpost-279393-0-64860100-1438655093_thumb.jpgpost-279393-0-61708800-1438655111_thumb.jpgpost-279393-0-88793200-1438655183_thumb.jpgpost-279393-0-20258000-1438655314_thumb.jpgpost-279393-0-14156900-1438655364_thumb.jpg

Congratulations! I LOVE your table set-up! I like how the staff could get to the guests easily. I might do something similar, or have all the tables together as a big square.

Hello all!

I have booked my wedding for March 2016. I'm so excited! I've been searching and searching for answers in this forum and found it so helpful that I decided to start posting myself.

We chose the Mint Breeze for gazebo ceremony and the banquet room reception. We have some older guests and needed the AC and privacy. We're expecting about 20 adults and 5 children at the most.

My new wedding planner (original one left the resort since we talked last) is Yasmin and she's pretty good at responding, but sometimes she doesn't answer all my questions fully.

Does anyone know about the banquet rooms? Are there more than one, and if so, what are the differences? What do you think a good table arrangement is for our number of guests? I know I definitely want a small head table (just for the couple), a separate cake table, and use rectangular tables for guests... kind of like the one in the picture below (except I think our head table is a rectangular table).

This may be a silly question. My fiance and I will be staying at the Palace, and our other guests at other Barcelo resorts (mostly Tropical). On the wedding day, are other guests allowed to come help me get ready in my room in the Palace? Also, since I'll be getting ready in my room in the Palace, where would my fiance get ready? Does he need to go to another guest's room in the resort?

Thanks for any and all advice!@@TaraW

My wedding is in March 2016 and I started planning a year in advance as well, being a type A personality myself! Haha

Hi @@yooyooo,

I booked my wedding at the Palace for May 2016 using the Mint Breeze Package also! many of the previous posts state that guests were able to stay at any Barccelo Hotel and attend a palace wedding, but upon my booking I was advised that any guest who doesnt stay at the Palace will have to pay a $100 day pass fee to attend. Maybe they wont be so strict with guests assisting you on your wedding day. Happy Planning!

Oh my goodness!! No way!

My wedding planner never mentioned that.... maybe your wedding planner thought you meant a different resort??? Now I'm getting nervous...... that will add up to be A LOT of money.

Ok, I did some searching because I got nervous about the day pass.

The wedding package pdf my wedding planner sent says, "Guests not staying at the resort and attending the wedding must pay a day pass." This statement is under every wedding package, and it doesn't mention any of the actual hotel names.

On their website, the word "resort" always refers to the group of 5 "hotels" (Tropical, Beach, Caribe, Palace, Colonial) within the resort. So according to those word references, guest at any other four hotels shouldn't have to pay for a day pass since they're still staying within the resort.

I'll use this to defend myself if any questions come up. No way I'm paying $100 for all 20 of my guests. That's insane.

@@yooyooo,

I thought it was insane too, especially since many other posts stated differently. I will double check with my WC ( I have been assigned Estrella!). The way it's worded does make it seem like you should be able to stay at any hotel within the resort.

Hi Ladies,

I had already talked to my WP about the resort fee, and guests not staying there that wish to attend the wedding. It's only the ones not at the Barceló complex that have to pay. I have four people coming from a neighbouring resort (non Barceló), and they have opted to book and share a room for the night ... slightly cheaper than a day pass x4, and gives them a place to get ready after a day at the beach, and a place to crash after the wedding if they want.

I've also booked an outside photographer (playaweddings) and looking at Beso Brides or the Styling trio for my airbrush make up  .... can you say vendor fees????? *sigh*

@@CellineSouza, that's great to hear you liked Estrella! So far our communication has been great and thorough (although delayed) but you never know how that will be once you get to the resort and your wedding day comes! Beautiful dress pics as well! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
