@Ivydulce2015   Yes, I used the onsite salon for my wedding hair and makeup (February 2015).  Both were fabulous!  If you have a specific style, bring pictures, otherwise she did a fantastic job with very little direction.  My hair and makeup only took an hour and a half (booked an hour for each), but I arrived to my appointment with dry/prepped hair.  Don't forget to bring any hair accessories with you to have secured into place.

@@shadow26 thanks so much for the information I think I'm going to use the resort salon. Do you know what the price list is. I can't seem to find them anywhere

@@shadow26 I almost forgot I saw your photos and they're beautiful. Your hair and makeup look great!

Hi!!! I am new to this site!! I am getting married at Barceló Maya Palace 7-11-2015 :) I am using the strawberry package with approx. 55-65 guests. I am just wondering if anyone has any pictures of the palmers grill that's where I am planning on have my reception at. Also anyone ever used the Styling trio for hair and makeup? And also has anyone ever received any discounts on anything I feel like if you bring so many people that they should be able to discount on something but I haven't heard anyone getting lucky and getting any money off anything.. I would be interested to hear anyone reviews on anything, also pictures of the food for the wedding!!! hope I hear some responses thank you so much!@!!

@@shadow26 Thanks so much. I was a little worried because I havent really read much reviews on them.  I also was looking at outside venders, but the fee plus the vendor fee was ridiculous. I think I'll save and go with salon.

Hi everyone I haven't been on here much lately but just starting to read back all the previous reviews in this thread which are sooo helpful and awesome! Congrats to all past bride& grooms and thank you!!!!!!

We are super exited for our wedding January 19,2016. We have already over 40 people booked! not sure the exact number lol should probably check that. We are staying at the tropical and ceremony at the Azul beach.

Right now our WC Aurea has just sent us menu options, we are doing the strawberry package and are stuck on what to pick..

I'm assuming this is a plated dinner and not a buffet?

Also we are unsure if we want reception on the beach.. It looks so pretty but is it windy on the beach in the evenings???

What have past brides experienced with beach receptions?? OR can we just pick a location by one of the grills or pools? My WC hasn't given us the choices yet.

Anyone else have Aurea for their WC??

Thanks and looking forward to any advice you might have!

Kim

Hi @@HilaryMWren!

We are the same wedding week!

My date is Jan.19/2016. So maybe we'll see each other there , although it is a huge resort! We have been to barcelo Maya beach resort before and just loved it!

Wow 70! That is great you have so many people coming. So far we have 43 and maybe more to book still.. But the costs are starting to add up with all the guests.

Who is your WC?

I have Aurea-Andrea, so far she has been slow to email with but I have been too so that's working out okay lol except for when you have questions that come up!

Not sure where you are with your wedding right now , we have just picked our menu. Did your WC say anything about whether the meal is a plated dinner or buffet? She hasn't said if we go over a certain number then it's a buffet?

Or maybe someone else has heard about this..

Hi,

OK.....we just booked our date and sent invitations! Eek....January 23rd, 2016! We already have 70 guests that RSVP'd yes.

I will be reviewing old posts and look forward to more great chats with former and new bride-to-bes about the Barcelo!

Thank you, Hilary (Canadian bride)

@@kimmyd2 Hi !!

SO exciting to meet another bride for the same week!!

We were assigned Estrella Ausin as our WC. We have done introduction emails (1.5-2 weeks ago) but have not made any decisions. I think the dinner is plated? Or at least in some of the packages.

I am most interested in the current color options (for table cloths, decorations etc) so that I can pick a "color theme" for the wedding (my bridesmaids are asking about their dresses).

I have sent you my personal email contact...hope we can connect throughout this process!!

Thanks, Hilary :)

Hello ladies, I am new to this site and have booked my wedding at the Barcelo Maya Colonial on January 27, 2015.

I am wondering if any of you went with the Mint Breeze package? I see in the package description that we will be having a private dinner in a room for 3 hours but I am wondering what the private rooms are like as I wouldn't want to fly all the way to Mexico from Montreal, Canada to eat in a conference room wiht our guests.

Can anyone give me additional information about their experience with the Mint Breeze package and the private rooms available for dinner? Can we choose a room that is open to the ocean, for example?  Is there a DJ included in this? What kind of entertainment can we expect?

Thank you in advance!

We also chose the Mint Breeze package.  The reason why we chose this is because we are going to be outside a lot during our stay and we thought for dinner (only 3 hours - unless you pay for longer) a little air conditioning would be a nice treat at dinner time.  We were really stuck between this package and the Strawberry Passion one.  We aren't staying at the Palace so I am not sure what the banquet rooms look for you.  The room we have looks nice and you can have it decorated nicely.  again for 3 hours out of the whole week of outdoor festivities I truly think it will be a welcomed moment.  The DJ or dance floor is not included in the package.  If you look online all the Barcelo page you will see all the packages with the inclusions and the additional costs.   The Mint Breeze does include a sound system that you can hook up your iPod or use CDs for music during dinner.  I was also told that there was a microphone available for your MC and speeches.

Once you are set up with a wedding coordinator you will be taken step by step through the process of your planning.  They are very organized.  I have to say that my WC is wonderful, she is very fast at getting back to you with replies.  I have Tania D.

Good luck if you have any question you can send me a private message!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
