Hey NurseNurse0101.. Which airline is it that offer this free cocktail hour?

Hi! I have 34 people coming. We chose strawberry package because I am NOT going to mexico to get married or have a reception in a banquet room inside.. despite the cost.

I asked about the free cocktail hour as well, BUT, it is only for a certain airline in the US and did not apply to us flying WestJet from Vancouver (because we definetly had more than 15 rooms booked). I am not upset about this because we didn't even want a cocktail hour.

Ours is coming to around 6000 USD because we are having 34 people on the beach, 2 extra hours for the reception (5 hours total), only a 2 layer cake, bringing down our own centerpiece stuff which costed about 50$ for 6 tables (versus their 35$ PER table), and we are still debating about the dancefloor.  Either way, its a no frills wedding, and to be honest they don't NEED to be if you are on the beach. My close friend photographed his sisters wedding in Cuba, so we asked him if he could do that for us (since he was already coming anyways).

for myself, I already bought clip in extensions and my bridesmaid who is a hairdresser is doing my hair. I am all about makeup, so im doing that myself (I have been testing out foundation in our 35 degree BC weather this week)

that's about it! :)

I just got word that Claudia left the resort and now we have a new wedding planner named Marlene. She said she will contact me end of July, as right now she is overwhelmed with wedding stuff and learning the ropes (this is the ONLY thing that is making me nervous), BUT, I know it will all work out and be AMAZIIINGGG!!! 3 month and 9 days until the wedding!!!

PS- can someone tell me how to quote other posts?

Hello Ladies!! Congrats to all of you future brides! We will be getting married at the Barcelo Palace, June 28th, 2014. Any other brides getting married around the same time?? I am also looking for an affordable photographer. I've looked into the prices of the resorts photographer, too expensive for the job they have to offer. Any previous brides with good connections on photographers. I'm also thinking of flying out a photographer, need to see what will be cheaper! -_- I would appreciate all the help I can get!! Thanks in advance beautiful brides!! :)

Hi!

Happy Wedding Day!!! Hope you're enjoying Mexico!

Martina finally replied to my email!  Im definitely annoyed at this point too.  Did Martina ever tell you that The Best Moments has an "agreement" with the Barcelo so no outside vendor fee would be required?  I asked my wedding coordinator about this and she said that there is no agreement, but The Best Moments pays the fee sometimes.  I asked Martina about the fee and of course haven't gotten a response yet.  The main reason I booked The Best Moments is because I wouldn't have to pay the $500 outside vendor fee...still thinking about making appointments at the spa if it turns out I do have to pay the fee.  Did you pay the outside vendor fee?  What a mess!

Hey!! I'm back from my wedding and did end up using the Best Moments. My experience with the team was awesome EXCEPT for the lack of communication with Martina. That whole vendor fee is a big mix up and they need to get it together. Martina does not make it clear to the bride how the vendor fee works. She did tell me that they have a contract with Barcelo and of course that's not true because Barcelo has their own spa!! So basically what ended up happening is I only paid the deposit and the balance gets credited because that's the "fee". In the end you pay for the outside fee which is only $150 not $500. But like I said, my experience with Alexandre (hair) and Zoe (make up) was great so I'm glad I used them.

Hope that helps! :)

Hello Everyone,

I am getting married in January 2015. 5.5 months and counting. I am trying to decide what to do about a photographer and videographer. I wanted to see what the resorts was like but the website doesn't work and I have emailed them like 3x and no response. I have been looking around for a package with a videographer and photographer but some of them can be quite pricey. You think it would be cheaper in mexico! Has anyone found any decent companies with ok prices? any suggestions would be great.

Hello,

I got married 3 weeks ago and I used Ivan Luckie. Although I have not seen my pictures yet, I know they came out awesome! He was so down to earth and great to work with. His prices were also very reasonable. If you are interested shoot him an email to see what his prices are (I booked him in 2013 so his prices MIGHT have gone up, not sure).

Also if you are not aware, Barcelo charges a $500 fee for bringing an outside vendor. Before there were ways you could get around that fee by booking the photographer a room, but that's no longer the case. Unless you are flying your photographer in, you have to pay that fee.

Hope that helps! :)

Unfortunately, they do not offer a free cocktail hour unless you have 70 ADULT guests booked. I had 60 guests for my wedding and I tried and tried to get the free cocktail hour and they said NO. But you can try and see what they say.

For you ladies still looking for a photographer I just received three photos from my wedding that Ivan Luckie took. He just sent me a few for my thank you cards. They are beautiful and I can't wait to see the rest! Message me an email address and I can shoot the three I have over to you if you want a look at his work!

Hello,

So I have recently been looking into outside vendors for things but the resort is wanting to charge me like crazy for everything. I came to terms with the 500usd for the photographer, but now its 150usd for the hairdresser I have coming in and the last draw is that apparently recently it has changed its rules on DJs. You have to pay 100usd per hour for electricity.  How could it ever cost that much? I could understand 100usd. But 100usd per hour! We aren't even going to be on the beach! I am currently trying to fight this as it is not listed anywhere on their website and they don't tell you about it until you are booked and trying to plan your wedding. Anyone have any luck with this?

Thanks

Yes, their website has been down for some time.  I am also getting married that month at Barcelo!  You can look them up on Facebook and Instagram and you can see their photos on there are actually surprisingly awesome.  And they have videographers and the videos look great.  I was nervous about the quality, but they are awesome!  I actually opted to use a family friend as the photog so I'm not using them after all, but their work looks good!

LADIES!!!! OMG, 2 months away (51 days!!!)... so excited!

Basically all planning is done except for some minor details (I want some hanging lights--like those round paper lanterns), and then flowers. I picked my bouquet, but nothing else for flowers yet.

My dress fitting (2nd one) is on Sept 9th, its going to amazing to actually try it on now that it will fit!!

HI EVERYONE,

I am one more desperate bride getting married on Dec 18, 2014. I need some insight about timing for the ceremony. My ceremony will be happening at 3pm but I feel this will be too hot for my guests and us. I wanted to change it to 4pm but my photographer really thinks 3pm is better for pictures. I will be having a symbolic wedding which will only take 30 min or less and I only have 20 guests. According to time and date.com website the sunset on dec 18 will be about 515pm. Anyone who married in Dec have some insight about this??? please help!! Thanks!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
