I thought of planning an excursion before getting there as well but I don't need the added stress with trying to figure out who is coming and who isn't. The issue I was having was all my guests arrive and depart on different days. It was hard to decide what would be the best day to do the excursion. What I am planning to do is booking a few days after we arrive and who ever wants to join will pay their own. I am still undecided on what excursion to do :(

Hey ladies!

Is anyone else trying to plan any excursions? We are doing a jack and Jill stagette at coco bongos and a private catamaran. Problem is I've gone over my wedding budget and all the vendors want us to pay upfront for the excursion bookings. And unfortunately, we do not have the extra money to do so :-(

Is anyone running into this issue or any have any suggestions about a booking when we arrive? And having everyone just pay then and there if they want to join?

Happy planning!

Hello! We usually go down to Playa del Carmen and purchase all our excursions through an outside vendor. It is extremely cheaper then purchasing in advance online or through the resort.

As for the private catamaran, as soon as you arrive you can book, keep in mind they usually ask for a $1000 deposit on top of catamaran rental. They're are so many diff. Vendors out in Playa Del Carmen, I'm sure u can work something out with them and avoid the deposit. Good Luck! :)

My Wedding is around the corner!! :D Over Excited.

June 28th, 2014.

Does anyone have pictures of Coral Beach Reception?? I'm curious to see how it looks at night.

Thanks! :)

Hello Ladies!!!

OKAY!! So Barcelo is really starting to annoy me and with all the money we are spending I'm starting to think maybe we should have just gotten married in NJ!!!

First off, I'm still having scheduling issues regarding my photographer! My original plan was to book him a 2 night stay (in order to save on the vendor fee) have him photograph my wedding (Friday) and do my TTD session the next day. Turns out he's got a wedding the following day so he would have to meet me at 7am and it would be at the cenote! 1) that's way too early especially after partying at the wedding the night before 2) I have already booked a particular TTD package, and I am not paying extra for the cenote because my FI doesn't swim so a TTD at the cenote would be a waste! He also said he doesn't recommend TTD the next day b/c brides' face will look tired in the pictures!  OOOH  and on top of that, it doesn't matter if he's on my guest count and has a room booked, I would still have to pay vendor fee unless I"m flying him from the States!!!!

Any who, he says he will come do my TTD on that Monday! So now I don't know what the heck to do! Should I not book him a room and just pay the $500 vendor fee for wedding day? BUT now does that mean I would have to pay a vendor fee again or I can't try to sneak and just get him a day pass??? I don't know what to do!!!

Second, @@KLA1220 you had mentioned that there is a complimentary cocktail hour if you have 15 rooms or more booked! I asked my WC (Aurea) and she said it's only if you have 70 Adult guests booked. Of course I don't have 70 guests booked!!  Could they have possibly changed that in these last few weeks????

What's really annoying me is that I have 60 people coming and I"m yet to get offered any type of incentive and I'm sure they won't offer unless I ask!!

OK so now that I"m done venting...are any of you ladies experiencing the same thing?? What incentives are you getting?

Hey everyone!! I leave this Saturday for our wedding aventures! :) Wedding is next Thursday...is anyone else going next week?

I just about had a heart attack though...I looked at the weather for next week and it's 70% chance of rain almost everyday!! 60% on the day of the wedding...oh man I'm so nervous about the weather! I really don't want to get stuck in some ball room or something indoors. Send good thoughts my way! haha

Does anyone know if Barcelo will take Travelers Checks? I really don't want to bring all that cash down and my credit card company will charge 3% on any purchases down there. Ick...hoping they get back to me soon, but a travelers check would be pretty easy. Let me know what others have done!

Hey everyone,

I want to say a BIGGGG thank you to all of those Brides out there who posted amazing questions, tips and advice for having a wedding at the Barcelo!  I just got married at Palmeras Beach in April, and IT WAS AMAZING!!!!   I will eventually post a review, but for now I want to pay it forward so if anyone needs pics or tips I'm more than happy to help.

Also for any Vancouver CANADA brides out there, I just posted an ad on Craigslist and am selling a bunch of my wedding stuff from my Fiesta Bridal Shower to leftover items from the Wedding.  PM me if you would like the link to my ad with pics etc.

HI Everyone!! I have been so excited to read everyone's reviews. My wedding Is oct 29 at the tropical. We are well into wedding planning. I have met someone on here from the same town as I, and she has shared many pictures of her wedding she recently had, and MAN DID IT PUT MY MIND AT EASE!!! It looked gorgeous.

After adding up everything, we are at a grand total of 7400$ US... which is about 8000$ CAN with exchange rate of 0.92. That is with the light up dance floor (which I am now convinced we need), and without a cocktail hour (we are going to refer guests to the lobby bar instead).

We were discussing a huppa... or arch or whatever... they are so expensive 300$???!!! What do you guys think are other options if we decide we don't want this?...

Also, after seeing pixs of the Palmeras Beach... I really want my ceremony to be there too, (our reception is the palmeras beach and backup is the grill). Right now we have the palace beach/cliff area as our ceremony choice, but I may change it.

and PS- for anyone who has never been to mexico.. there is ALWAYS a 70% chance of rain :)

I am so excited!! My dress hasn't even come in yet.... ordered in January... they said it would be in first week of may. I am going to start freaking out if it hasn't come in by July

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
