So I need to vent real quick..... I was at the mall tonight buying jewelry and another bride to be was next to me. We started talking about our weddings and it just so happens she's getting married at the Riu in Mexico. When I told her we were getting married at the Barcelo she went off on how she did a site visit and listed 100 things she hated about it. Mind you I have never been and our wedding is in 3 weeks. My first thought was how ignorant can a person be and now I'm nervous since I have never been there. She said the beach, food ,reception areas and so on were terrible! She also said the palmares grill is way too big for a wedding of 46 people after I said that's where we decided. Someone give me some reassurance!

KLA1220,

I cannot believe that! I was just there last week and it was gorgeous!! The whole resort was lovely. Victoria, the wedding planer, was amazing as well. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. My fiancé has stayed there before and loved it. The rooms are also really nice. The beaches are outstanding! The whole feel of the resort was amazing. It is a stunning plCe for a wedding.

I have tons of oictures of the grill if you would like some. It is large but Victoria told me they don't use the entire thing for the receptions. It has very high ceilings and is wonderful. I'm getting married at the playa sol and the reception on the palmeras beach and the grill is our back up. And I'm very happy with it. Please please please do not worry! I'm so angry for you! This woman knows nothing and should be ashamed of herself for being so rude to you.

You should be nothing but excited! Please do not worry! Send me your email address and I will send you the pictures. They will out your mind at ease.

I totally agree with @@theriouxs !! How rude! I'm sure she was one of those people who goes on trip advisor and gives bad reviews just because there was a crack on the wall! I also did a site visit last year and the resort is gorgeous! We saw a wedding reception at the Palmeras Grill and it looked soo awesome and the people were having such a great time that we upgraded to the strawberry passion just to have our reception there. Everyone is different and has different opinions! You have absolutely nothing to worry about!

Thanks ladies! I still can't get over that, the nerve! Nikki my email is Kla1220@hotmail.com. I would love to see some pics :)

It's hard to pick a location where neither if us have been so it's nice hearing from all of you who have done site visits.

How much are you bringing for decorations? We are trying to figure out how much or how little to get.

Thanks again! Kristen

GET OUT!!!! That's insane! So on top of the room stay we do have to pay for the vendor fee... what a rip off! I was thinking of just paying the $500 and no room stay but I need him to come back the next day for my TTD session which will be in the resort

Yes its a total rip off!! So now they don't have the option of paying the room stay anymore it keeps changing. so to do the trash the dress the next day I'm not sure if you'd have to pay the vendor fee twice or just the resort fee of $95 I'm sure just the resort fee. Im going to do my trash the dress at the cenote across the way.

Shes probably talking about the Barceló Caribe LMAO! My travel agent just came back last week and gave me rave reviews and told me how I was going to LOVE having my wedding there. And of course the palmeras grill is huge but its not like there cleaning whole place out to put your 46 family and friends. How dumb can she be! trying to rain on someones parade because she had to go with Riu. Barceló is rated 10 stars so how does she figure!

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease!

Our wedding is in 2 weeks I can't believe it! We have to pick the location for our welcome dinner. The options are the buffet or a la carte. Does anyone have any suggestions? We also need to pick a location for our cocktail hour.

Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Hello Ladies!

For the brides with the strawberry package and using an outside vendor for hair and make up. I've hired The Best Moments for my hair and make up. I'm wondering if my sister can take my place and get her hair and makeup done. Has anyone done that or knows if they allow that? Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
