Ladies,  I am on step 2 of planning. A lot of people are iffy about seafood (besides my fiancé and I, when we saw surf and turf we were like YUMMMM!!!!!)... anyways we have opted for the beef tenderloin wellington, sounds yummy. I am not a fan of ANY of the starters though... I sent an email asking about a basic ceaser salad or something. Has anyone had any of the same experiences?

PS- for strawberry package each extra plate over 15 people is now $70 USD.

Also, we are having a symbolic ceremony, so they deducted the $300 off our final cost... that being said, who do they use to conduct the ceremony?... The wedding planner said we can have a minister (religious) or a justice of the peace... don't these still cost money?

I'm going to ask about this. We are having the symbolic ceremony as well but have not been offered a reduction in costs!

Yeah when I received my wedding package on spreadsheet excel to fill out step one the 300$ was deducted. to equal 3400$

I have read that the 300 goes directly to the minister/JP in cash.. but im having a symbolic ceremony, so I don't need anyone special doing it... I wonder who barcelo usually uses

Sorry ladies, yet another question about photographers. I'm having a hard time trying to figure this out. I told my WC that I will be booking a room and including the photographer and videographer in my guest count. She told me that if the photographer is coming from the states then the fee does not apply. But NO he's a photographer from there...Does this mean I'm still being charged the $500?? I'm sooo confused!!

How exactly did you set it up for your photographer?

@@NurseNurse0101,

We are getting married on June 4th and asked our WP Victoria about the increase in prices. If you mention it,  I believe they will honour the lower price on the brochure they gave you in the first place (so $66 vs $70).

I am hiring a photographer/Videographer from cancun, Mike Canterell I was going to just book him the two nights and my WC Xhail said that we had to pay the vendor fee no matter what unless he flew in with us from the states. At first I was like oh yea were flying him in so she said "If we find out hes from Cancun we will still have to pay the $500 fee and the room stay. She said it like AND WE WILL KNOW! Lol! Now she has me nervous Lol!! So I guess Il go back and tell the truth Lol!!!

GET OUT!!!! That's insane! So on top of the room stay we do have to pay for the vendor fee... what a rip off! I was thinking of just paying the $500 and no room stay but I need him to come back the next day for my TTD session which will be in the resort

So I need to vent real quick..... I was at the mall tonight buying jewelry and another bride to be was next to me. We started talking about our weddings and it just so happens she's getting married at the Riu in Mexico. When I told her we were getting married at the Barcelo she went off on how she did a site visit and listed 100 things she hated about it. Mind you I have never been and our wedding is in 3 weeks. My first thought was how ignorant can a person be and now I'm nervous since I have never been there. She said the beach, food ,reception areas and so on were terrible! She also said the palmares grill is way too big for a wedding of 46 people after I said that's where we decided. Someone give me some reassurance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
