Hello Brides,

Who else will be getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace on June 28th, 2014 or around that date?

My Fiance and I are taking our own photographer from L.A. It's a lot cheaper flying her out with us and she does an amazing job with pictures. We were not happy with the photographers they offer with the Resort. Let me know if your interested for her to photograph the day of your wedding, maybe we can split the cost for the Photographer and Videographer. I can also send you her website and info. :)

Hey! I had my hair and makeup done at the spa there, my girls also had their hair done, all of our hair was done very well, we were all happy with it and it help up well. My makeup was great too, I showed them some pics on my iPad and they did a fantastic job. They use am makeup, I brought my own eye lashes and mascara though and they put it all on perfectly! It lasted very well even through the heat! Here's a shot where you can sort of see my makeup close up. 400

Thank you very much.  Congratulations to you as well.  All this planning is so exciting.  I look forward to finally getting there and having a cocktail...

I might be interested in the photographer, go ahead and pm me the info and pricing, currently we will be using my Fiancées sister who is a professional photographer, but she will have just given birth a month before the weeding and I do not want to stress her out.

Have you been to Barceló Maya before?  It is so beautiful.  We went to a friends wedding out there a few years ago and loved it, so when the time came for us to make a decision, it was a natural choice for us.

For those of you booking rooms for photographers rather than pay the vendor fee, does anyone know if I were to book him at a sister resort do I have to pay a pass for him to come over the day of the wedding?
What do you mean by sister resort, like Tropical/Colonial or Beach/Caribe? We were at the palace and our wedding stuff was all at the palace but our photographers were all booked on to stay at the Beach/Caribe because its the cheapest, they are allowed to be at the palace for the wedding events without a charge.

Yes, you can book them a room at any of the 5 hotels at the Barcelo resort, like FireyNurse said.

BUT....Barcelo has recently and unfortunately instituted a 5 night minimum stay during their peak seasons. Not sure when your wedding is, but it will not be a cheaper alternative to paying their vendor fee of $500 when you have to book 5 nights. My wedding is in February and even my guests wanting to book 3 or 4 nights were turned away initially... Thank goodness my travel agent talked them into allowing 3-4 night stays for my guests still, since I've had rooms held for us since March, way before they decided on this new rule. I was very disappointed by this, and it didn't make our guests trying to book the last few months very comfortable about the trip at all. Almost made me reconsider this resort...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
