Hey ladies,

Have any of you heard about or encountered Barcelo's new rule that requires a 5 night minimum stay during peak season? My wedding is in February, which is peak season and our group booking through my travel agent just hit the 4 month mark and we had to drop the extra rooms that hadn't been booked. The guests who booked at the last minute or who are now trying to book have encountered this problem. My travel agent says Barcelo is getting a lot of grief and backlash for this decision, so hopefully they will change this.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard about this?

Past brides, I chose the strawberry package and now deciding on the menu. Does anyone have suggestions? We were thinking of going with the shrimp and avocado salad, French onion soup, surf and turf and chocolate mousse. Also any recommendations on the cake?! Thanks in advance!
We had the strawberry package and had ceviche to start, lobster bisque soup next, surf and turf for the main and the dessert was white chocolate raspberry something I think! I didn't eat any of the food choices as I had the vegetarian options instead but I heard nothing but amazing reviews of all parts of the dinner, even desert! The food was apparently absolutely incredible! For our cake we had the coconut flavour, we went with just the one that came in the package and it was more than enough (no one ate it), enough that we ate it for a week while keeping it in our room fridge! Haha!

Hello Ladies!! Congrats to all of you future brides! We will be getting married at the Barcelo Palace, June 28th, 2014. Any other brides getting married around the same time?? I am also looking for an affordable photographer. I've looked into the prices of the resorts photographer, too expensive for the job they have to offer. Any previous brides with good connections on photographers. I'm also thinking of flying out a photographer, need to see what will be cheaper! -_- I would appreciate all the help I can get!! Thanks in advance beautiful brides!! :)

thanks for your response! I was planning the surf and turf and the coconut cake as well which I upgraded to 2 layers which will probably be way too much! I'm glad to hear everyone liked it! Pics was between the lobster bisque and French onion. Did you do apps/ cocktail hour?

We didn't do apps or cocktail hour, there was 2 hours between the ceremony and reception and we told the guests they could freshen up or just hang out and wait, apparently everyone just stood at the pool area bar (Coco bar I think it's called) and just socialized and drank.
Past brides: Can anyone tell me if you can pick the songs they play for your ceremony? I picked the violin and I am wondering if I should be choosing songs to walk down the aisle to. And if so, when do we tell them the songs?  Thanks!
I chose the guitar and keyboard and ended up getting the violinist and keyboard on the day of the wedding. I can't remember when it was but I did choose the song cannon in D to be played and told the coordinator. If you are choosing something you think they might now know let your coordinator know sooner than later is my suggestion. I only chose the one song for me and said they could play whatever for the seating part and bridal party and It all sounded wounderful by the time I heard it on the video we got! They definitely made sure there was a difference in sound between the party and then my walk beginning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
