On the back of the keycard holders I made, I wrote everyone's room number, which was super helpful!! We just called eachother and planned to meet at a particular time, left a message if they didn't pick up. I've heard of people using walkie-talkies, which would have been a great idea! It definitely was challenging, because the resort is really big, but we definitely developed a bit of a routine and the 'usual' places that we would hang out.

That's a good idea with the room numbers.  Did the front desk give those to you when you arrived so you could fill them in?  Thanks for the advice!

I know when I asked about a welcome dinner for our group she said we were too big to have it at one of the specialty restaurants so they are just blocking off an area in the buffet for us, which is totally fine with me.  We have 50-60 people though so I can imagine that would be hard to accommodate in one of the restaurants.  We are using the time to welcome our guests and hand out our OOT bags.

I thought it would be great to give my guests personalized tumblers....who did this and did the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe give your guests problems about filling the cups at the bar?

We have been to Barceló before and always have brought our own cups and never had any problems getting them filled. We also got these type of cups for our guests.

Mellie, how far in advance do you have to ask to block off an area at the buffet? That is perfect just to get everyone together and to hand out bags! Do they charge extra for this?

Hi!

I just told my coordinator and she said she will have it set up, we just have to get there right when the buffet opens for dinner to get our reserved area. It does not cost anything extra as we will still be using the buffet to eat.

Hello everyone!

We recently were married at the Barcelo and we used

*

Jaime Glez Photography. Him and his wife were very personable and were fun to be around! All the guests at my wedding are still raving about how awesome they were. It almost seemed as if they were guests and not our photographers. He even broke out some awesome dance moves on the dance floor! It was like having a long lost friend at my wedding.

When I was researching photography I found Jaime, but was concerned because there were not many reviews on him. I decided to take a chance after looking at his portfolio (it was amazing).....THANK GOD I DID! It also helped that his pricing was WAY better than almost all of the other photographers!

My photos turned out awesome and he captured all the right moments. The best part of our package was our video slideshow....it was incredible and I could tell that it took time...He did not just randomly throw pictures to music. There was flow and re-captured the ambiance and mood of the night.

I hired Jaime for the full 8 hours. He EVEN did well beyond the 8 hours trying to capture all the wonderful moments. My husband and myself were amazed that Jaime would be so giving, that should tell you that he is not there trying to make a profit. He is there to make the bride and her entourage feel amazing and to capture all the moments of the day. I will also say that acouple days before the wedding (since I booked him into the hotel as per the hotels policy), he wanted a meet and greet and asked us about our story and how we came to this moment in our lives....He listened and took in everything that we were saying. He even offered to do a mini photo session that night (we didn't because time did not permit).

If you are a bride and are struggling with the decision of who to use for your wedding photography, I suggest that you use Jaime Glez Photography. He was kind, professional, thoughtful, and has a keen eye for capturing the moments (small or big) of the big day.

I have already thought about re-booking Jaime the next time we are in Mexico for anniversary photos... :)

Jaime was not just a photographer, but a friend! Any brides that would like more information please message me! I am happy to help as I know how stressful it is! Just remember that the coordinators are professionals and everything will turn out even better than you could ever imagine! Happy planning ladies!

No, there is not an extra fee for this.  If you are staying at the Palace and having it there, there is a 5.00 fee for those not staying at the Palace.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
