Hello Brides :)

Did anyone opt out of live music during the ceremony and just used their ipod/mp3 player? (our ceremony will be on the beach).  My fiance has it stuck in his mind for some reason that he doesnt want live music....Just wondering if anyone did this and what the outcome was or how good it sounded.  Thanks for the help!

That's crazy!! I specifically requested the Palapa, and my wedding coordinator said no problem- we've been having issues with her ever since we switched our package from the Strawberry Passion to the Air Transat package...oh gosh, I hope that we'll have some sort of wedding location when we show up!

We used an ipod and it sounded great.  We asked for the violin (which was then not available the day of the wedding) and instead got a flute to just play while people were milling around waiting for the bridal party to show up.  Then we used the ipod for our processional, recessional, cocktail hour, and reception.

When we were there in October, Claudia told us that the resort does not plan on replacing the Palapa.  Apparently it was removed because it was rotting and because it is so windy on that beach, it was a safety hazard.  We were initially concerned about it not being there, but the beach is still beautiful and is more secluded than some of the others.

Carry your dress on for sure.  It gets a lot of attention and makes airline staff a little nicer to you.  We traveled with all of our stuff (OOT bags, favors, decorations, etc) and just had it all spread out in our checked luggage.  Just make sure you carry receipts for everything.

I did the same. Carried my dress on and just laid it across in the overhead bins (I have heard if they have room in the flight attendents closet they will hang it for you but they said no to me, I fly Frontier). Either way I was going to get my dress steamed the day of the wedding so it didn't really matter, but wasn't going to risk getting it lost in the checked luggage!

We ended up having 4 suitcases. 2 were wedding stuff and we checked all but one suitcase (we always have a carryon with a some clothes for each of us just in case something happens to the bags).

I made the mistake of not saving my receipts and read a lot of people saying things on here and it made me nervous! But customs was a breeze and had absolutely no questions coming or going.

Good luck and congrats!

What is the reason behind saving the receipts for everything? I'm not sure I have all them

Hello Brides,

I am still deciding on my dinner menu, and I'm thinking of having surf and turf but ordering an extra platter of another variety of food from the menu to give my guests a little bit more variety, I'm wondering if anyone has done this and if it cost extra?

Also, I have about 6 guests who don't eat seafood, yet I want to have the surf and turf, if any of you have chose that option, were the guests that don't eat seafood allowed to just have the beef without lobster tail?

Thanks :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
