Hello,  Would anyone be comfortable with providing me with the total cost of their wedding? I am deciding between strawberry and mint packages. We have around 30-35 people going. Thanks!
There is a thread on here about costs and I did a full break down of what cost us what on there, I have pasted it below for you to see. For the wedding package, we had the strawberry package and 20 people total. The extras we had to pay for on top of the package price was 5 extra people, 3 hours of extra reception time, two bridal party bouquets and flower girl petals. The cost for that stuff was approx $4400. Here is the break down: $4100 travel (this was 2 weeks all inclusive of hotel/flights/drinks/food and this included a free upgrade to first class both ways and an ocean view suite - 1 week wedding and 1 week honeymoon) $4400 wedding package - meals/drinks/decor/flowers/ipod and speaker hook ups and extra reception hours $2790 wedding photography and TTD $2500 wedding videography $600 for outside vendor rooms $1350 dress and alterations $250 for bridal extras $450 grooms outfit $260 girls dresses $250 mens pants $100 gifts for party $50 favors $100 centerpeices $1000 wedding bands for a total of $18,200 Those were our major costs, I didn't account for the extras like all the paper and such that I had to purchase for the DIY invites, menu cards, guest book and little things like that, I could probably throw in another $200-$400 to cover those little things. I also did not include my engagement ring as it was a purchase made individually by my husband and I do not know what it cost or anything.

I'm getting scared about the cost for my guests . I got my quote from our travel agent and it is 1650$ per person :( . We have stayed at the palace before but now I'm worried our guests will be offended by the price . Especially for those that haven't traveled much..... Eckkkkk what to do !? My future brother in law has 3 teenagers , it will cost him over 8g I'm feeling extremely guilty . Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Did any of you have any issues with this ? Thanks Melissa

What we did to ease the cost issue for people and give options is we also got quotes for the Colonial/Tropical. No one was offended and they really appreciated the option to stay at either resort, most people actually opted for the Colonial! Not sure if this is something you might consider but its an option! I know our guests really appreciated it and I think had we only provided the quotes for the Palace we may have had fewer guests, as it is only a couple hundred per person cheaper when you are a couple or a family a couple hundred per person adds up quick!

This is what we are doing also.  My FI and I are staying at the palace but must will be staying at the tropical bc they price point is better.  I also have to remind myself that most people are making a vacation out of it, not just coming for one day thing.

Yes! The Barcelo Beach/Colonial is a great option. Also, I'm from BC and my fiance is from PEI, so we figured either way half our family would be flying across the country, which is why we decided we would all travel! Canadian weddings are expensive for guests too!! In PEI we stayed at a nice resort for a wedding at $200 a night, plus food/drinks, activities etc PLUS flights from alberta which were $1100 each...soooo it's not always cheaper to do it in Canada!! Plus this is YOUR wedding...having a destination wedding sometimes cuts the guest list a bit which is nice. Lots of our family members aren't coming for various reasons (cost, heat, fear of flying, etc) and this whole process has taught me that you CANNOT please everyone, no matter where you have the wedding!

I agree! You have to go in with the mindset of not everyone you want to be there will be able to come and you can't please everyone. Plus it makes it for a very intimate wedding and that was one of my favorite parts! I think if you start early with the right mindset you will prevent a lot of stress and in the end I am sure no one will regret doing what they want for their wedding even if you upset a few people:)

I am SO happy we choose a destination wedding and you can always do a AHR or party to include everyone.

Im thinking of going for the strawberry package, can anyone tell me if table decor, plates, and chairs are all included, or did you have to pay extra for decorated chairs etc.  the package is 3500 and im worried how much extra i'll have to pay...the package itself isnt too clear on if little details like chairs etc are included.

any help would be appreciated.

Chairs with chair covers (same as from the ceremony) and the plates are included. There is only one centerpiece included (usually for the head table and this is also used at the ceremony). All other decorations are an extra cost but you can also bring your own or rent vases and such from the resort (we rented vases and they were $7 per vase).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
