Hey all, quick question – have you guys been asked to pay outrageous amounts for fees?  I know the $500 vendor fee, but I am having a wedding of 100 people and they want to charge me things like $14 per person, per hour for alcohol for any private event.  I also have to pay a table setting fee of $27.50 per person for the reception.  These costs are so ridiculous... has anyone else been faced with these types of ridiculous costs?  My wedding is costing more in fees than anything else.

We didn't do any private events aside from our wedding. But at the wedding yes there were charges of per person per hour to drink (over the people and hours included in the package) my suggestion, to avoid these charges is to maybe do things less private and exclusive to avoid having to pay out the nose for everything...because the reality is, it is an all inclusive but if you want private events you have to pay for the space and staff to run them for you, basically. We did a rehearsal (before wedding dinner) in town in Playa Del Carmen at our favourite little italian place, yes we had to pay to eat but it was quite private and fabulous service! Otherwise we did our gatherings as impromptu events where we all just met at a certain bar or lobby to drink together, they can't make you pay then. Our group was also only 20 people, though, so this was easier for us to manage.

Another question for you babysand...what package are you going with? I haven't heard of the table setting fee...although we had to pay $66 per person over the 15 included in the strawberry package, is this perhaps the same thing? If so and it is the same but for a different package, like mint or blueberry or something the charge is for the actual meal for each person.

Yes, I've heard of the $14 per person to drink for a private function...but if you have a dinner with the group at one of the restaurants I don't think it should apply! I know I want to do a welcome dinner and they never mentioned this fee to me!! I was told 27 people would be at separate tables in the same area and it wouldn't cost anything extra. However, when I was discussing doing appys and drinks between the ceremony and reception they quoted me the $14 fee plus the price of apps. The $27 fee must be the fee per person OVER however many are included in the package you are going for. Which package is that by the way? I know that with my group of 27, we are paying $27 for 7 people, as the Mint Breeze only includes enough food for 20 people. It does add up fast doesn't it!!!!

Hahah so true!!!

Yes, we had to pay $14/person/hour to drink and then we had to pay $66/person above 15 guests... and don't forget most vendors require you to feed them so add them into your count too.  We had 6 extra guests as vendors but only had to pay the $66/each and not the alcohol because they were drinking water and soda.  If some of your guests are kids, when you meet with your WC, make sure she realizes that - I don't think we paid the extra amounts for the kids for dinner or drinks (which makes sense).  I never had to pay $27.50/person for a table setting.  We did play one flat fee of $55 (I think) for them to set up the decorations but we had a lot and things were hung from the ceilings.

For any of you brides who have gone with the strawberry passion wedding package, did you find the package didn't include enough?  It states no where about flowers or table setting or chair decorations and I'm wondering if that all costs extra?  If it does could you send me the pricing info for all the add ons?  My email is rascal_261@hotmail.com

i'm having a hard time deciding between the strawberry passion package and the tangerine, I think  the tangerine is way too expensive and with 9500 plus photography and all that the total cost of the wedding would be way over my budget of 10,000.

For those who went with strawberry or tangering packages, do you mind telling me how much the total wedding came to? I'm just so confused as to what is included and what exactly isn't and I really don't want to go overboard with the price.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

:)

Would anyone be comfortable with providing me with the total cost of their wedding? I am deciding between strawberry and mint packages. We have around 30-35 people going. Thanks!

We did the mint breeze package and had 30 people. The total for the package with the extras was about $2,500. We had about $200 in extras (extra cake tier, rented vases, BM bouquets). Outside photography with the $500 fee was $1,700 for 3 hours and all digitals.

So our total (not including hotel/air, dress, invitations, OOT bags, etc.) was about $4,400

Oops I meant the total for the pack without extras was $2,500 plus $200 in extras...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
