For example, I'm having the ceremony on Friday would I need to fly out on Monday and then Tue is the first business day? Or I would be ok to fly in on Tue? I can email Jacqueln but probably won't hear from her for a few days or weeks since the date is not on hold yet. Thanks ladies.

We didn't get into until about 8pm on Tuesday and our wedding was Friday. We met with our WC (also had Jacqueline) on Thursday morning. I guess they do need time to get everything ready but I honestly wish we could have only had one real day in between arriving and the wedding. I was a little stress/anxious worrying about everything for the wedding and trying not to get burnt and drink too much before (haha) that I would have liked to have more time after the wedding to fully enjoy it with everyone.

So..flying in Tuesday should be fine because that is what we did for a Friday wedding :)

They have happy days on now, and if the photographer books at the Barcelo Beach or Tropical it is much less expensive. Just thought I'd share that for all who were concerned about paying the $500 fee!!!Ju

Hi Julie, how did were you able to book them for 2 nights? I tried and the minimum is 3 nights :(

Do you have a mybarcelo account? I didn't actually pay for it yet because I was waiting to see WHICH nights I have to book for (wedding day is July 6 so book for the 6th and 7th or 5th and 6th???), but I got right to the end where it asks for a credit card and it said nothing about 3 night minimum! What months are you trying to book for? There is apparently a high season and a low season, and the number of nights required can fluctuate. Sorry, I just got so excited I had to share...I'll let you know as soon as I know which nights to book!

Ladies,

Which hotel did your photographer/videographer stay at? Which is the cheapest Barcelo hotel? Is it the Barcelo Beach Hotel? I have heard that it's okay to have them stay anywhere on the whole resort. Does anyone know if this policy is still in place for 2013 for sure??? Also, if the wedding is July 6th, do I book the two nights of the 5th and 6th, or 6th and 7th? Claudia Rodriguez, our photographer, says that she never stays anyways! It just seems like such a waste/run around for nothing!!! UGH!

We gave out the little soft plastic photo albums that we made into welcome booklets, in there we had created a small timeline, it said 3-3:30 was the Ceremony and then 3:30 to 4:00 Group and Bridal Party Pictures and then 4:00-5:30 I put free time, drink or refresh yourself for the reception and then 5:30 Reception. We held a little meet and greet get together (no cost to us because we did it in the lobby bar at the Colonial where many guests were staying) on the day everyone arrived and we handed out and went through the booklet with everyone, including the timeline. We were a group of 20 so if anyone wasn't sure where to go I am guessing they just asked someone else nearby. No one had any issues with hanging out and doing their own thing (I think they all just drank, lol) and then our planner, Victoria, just let them know when it was time to head over to the beach for the reception.

You can book for any nights, I asked each company I hired what they preferred and one wanted to stay the night before and of the wedding and the other preferred to stay the night of and the next night. I know that Juan stayed for sure for the night of the wedding as we did a TTD the next day and he was checking out prior to it, as for the videographer, I know he stayed at least the night before the wedding as that is what I heard from him in our conversation.

I booked both photographer and videographer at the Beach/Caribe (and our wedding was at the Palace) they are the cheapest on the property and yes if they stay there they can still go wherever you and your wedding are, just the same as any guest at your wedding can stay anywhere and still access you and your wedding group on the day of the wedding.

My suggestion if your photographer says she won't be using the room is to potentially use it for the Groom if he needs a room to stay for the night. My groom and i didn't stay together but he stayed with his best man that night, if he wasn't able to do that I think we would have just let him use the photographer room and not had them stay there that night.

Awesome! Thank you SO much for all the advice you've given on this site!!! AMAZING :)

I will definitely ask Claudia which nights she would prefer, but I'm pretty sure she said she lives very close to the resort. That's a good idea to let the groom use that room :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
