When you work with her do you work with Tere as well? On my emails with Claudia, Tere is copied on it, and Tere responds to me and says for me to make sure she is copied on all the emails. So i'm not sure what role she plays.

Hello Crystal V,

Can you give me Tere email address? I have been contact with Jacqueline but she's doesn't even answer my email for the last two weeks.

I have tried calling Barcelo Maya but no one seems to pick up the phone as well. Most of the voicemail is in Spanish and which leaves me clueless to what I'm suppose to do.

Has anyone complain about this issue. It's seems like they are not doing a very good job.

I have Jacqueline as my WC and she has been great and quick to respond (usually about a week). When is your wedding? If it is not for awhile that could be why she isn't super quick. They have some many wedding that I'm sure they have to prioritize with the weddings that are first. Mine is a month away and have had plenty of time to plan the last several months.

Try searching through this thread and the other Barcelo threads for questions you have. There is SO much helpful information and it will be a lot quicker than waiting for an email :)

Previous Brides- Did you use a travel agent to book your hotel and airfare? Or did you just have everyone book their own? I have contacted a travel agent and it seems like I can find prices thru expedia/orbitz to be cheaper than the rate that the travel agent has given.  Even though the rate that the travel agent is giving is the "group rate" I don't see the perks of the group rate if it is more expensive than booking it thru expedia or orbitz.  With that said, did any previous brides get a group rate for hotel rooms directly from the hotel? If so, please let me know how I can do that as well. Thanks ladies!!
I called westjet yesterday and if you use them and have over 10 guests they will give you 10% off but only on air , it doesn't apply to package deals or any seat sales . Seems kind of pointless when your trying to make the trip more accessible for your guests . And if you use the "group rate" system you have to pay for a deposit on each guest and then the total amount 60 days prior to departure , and I'm not thrilled about tha idea either . To much room for stress and errors . I am going to talk to a travel agent too on Monday and see if it is just beneficial to use Expedia . Good luck Let me know how it works out Melissa November 2014

I am using a travel agent to book all of our travel.  I had to pay a deposit on ten rooms at the hotel to lock in our group rate.  We have 90 days to pay our full payment (end of March) even though our wedding isn't until October.  It is cheaper to book through expedia or Travelocity but then your guests are all flying separately and arriving on different days or at different times.  It was important to me that we all fly together on the same plane and that we had direct flights.  If you don't care about traveling with your group, or have connecting flights, then I would definitely just let everyone book separately via the internet.  It's definitely cheaper.  I also want my guests to be situated together in the hotel and can only do that with a group booking.  For the $200 or so in savings by using Travelocity, I'd rather pay more since I like being able to tell my guests to contact the travel agent directly instead of bombarding me with questions.  :)  Takes the pressure off of me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
