Hi Ladies! I am getting married May4th, 2013 and haven't planned a thing! I know some of you are saying that your WC takes forever to reply, but I haven't heard from mine in 2 months!!!! I have Xhail and the last I heard was when she sent me the excel sheet to start planning and I haven't heard anything back from her. I emailed her again about 2 weeks ago to see if she got my last email, but heard nothing back. Should I be freaking out?
Hey I'm getting married the day before you! I've been in contact with my coordinator and have chosen my ceremony and reception locations. I have completed some of the excel sheet but I won't be able to finalize until I know exactly how many people are coming. You shouldnt worry I have heard from past brides that everything is completed the day before the wedding. If you have a travel agent I suggest maybe asking her to contact the wc. Once they have your travel confirmed that may help get the ball rolling for you.

Haha I figure that it will all work out and this forum is more help than anything! I had to order the Welcome Letter/Weekend Itinerary and just put times with no locations for the events with an asterisk that all times are subject to change with our contact info!

As for the palapa, it's gone, there's nothing there just a huge sandy beach. If you like the trees wrapped with lights (they were a must for me) there are no trees down at Playa Azul, they will still have large spotlights and such, you won't be in the dark, but the tree lights are much more subtle and romantic feeling than a large bright spotlight.

Is there an extra fee for getting the trees wrapped with lights?

Hi ladies,

I am new to this thread.  I am planning my destination wedding and just came across this resort! I am in love with it!!! Did it take you all a long time to get a response after submitting the request thru the barcelo wedding website?  I am anxiously waiting to hear back to see if they have my date open!! Do you have to put a deposit down to hold that date? If so, how much is the deposit?

Looking forward to hear back from you all!!!

Thanks!!!

The trees

we didnt pay but maybe its because the trees are wrapped at a couple of the locations already. I had heard previously it was $5 per tree and was ready to pay that. Maybe it depends on the package you have too...? Not 100% sure.

I know this might not be what you want to hear but the wedding coordinators are VERY BUSY ladies! I was told they do approx 160 weddings a month there! I can say I had Victoria and she was SO amazing and fantastic! My recommendation would be to be patient and nice to them and plan what you can from home on your own and through what you know from here. What is it you are needing from them? Perhaps people like me who have recently been there for weddings could help out! We chose our ceremony location and hadn't chosen a location for our reception and found out we were placed at Coral Beach, as they place groups where appropriate according to size. As far as I think, lots can be planned without the planners. They will ask you about menu choices, centrepieces and flowers, then music (dj or iPod) and other things. Most of these things can and will be planned and/or finalized when you are at the resort. I know that to us as brides it is extremely rush rush rush but they have timelines they follow and if the wedding is too far out they don't start the planning for the most part until very close to the event. Im unsure of where everyone is at in their planning process but they require you to have booked your travel and have a confirmation # before they start planning...could you imagine if they started doing planning for any person who messaged them?! Eek it would be messy!

Julie,

Just from my experience, I thought the exact same thing before going, why are we going all the way to Mexico to have an indoor wedding?? NO WAY...Right... Was it beautiful? Yes, Would I do it again? NO, Heres why: Extremely windy, food was flying everywhere no joke, haha, food was cold, people were chilled, and we were at Playa Azul, and it was so far away, bathrooms stunk, because it's outdoors. All in all, if I had my time back, and yes I am very picky, but it's your wedding day, and you should be, I would have had my ceremony on the beach, as I did, beautiful! and had the reception inside, due to cost, as it is 350.00 per hour for every extra hour, for the strawberry package.

Anyway, hope this helps a bit... if you would like pics, you can send me a personal message as all the others have and I will send you some privately to your email :)

Happy planning!!!

Ali

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
