I used the spa for my hair and makeup and I had three other girls have their hair done as well and they all loved how it turned out, I have no regrets with using them. ALL of their makeup is MAC too!

As for the vendor fees, I asked several times and in different ways and was told every time I had to pay $500 for EACH vendor I had come in or have them stay two nights, though I never had to show proof that they were staying or anything, they even stayed at the Beach and we had no issues. I even tried to use the photography company for video to avoid the fee and when they told me I had to still pay it for my photographer I decided to not use their company for anything.

Our wedding is 2 weeks from today!  So far, everyone we've been working with has been great - we've chosen a photographer, videographer and florist, not discussed much on this website.  My fiance is Mexican and able to search for more options and negotiate prices down.  Also, I just got the pricelist for the Barcelo spa - seems prices are even more than any I've seen on here.  Let me know if you want to see the latest and greatest Spa price list.  As we have gotten closer to our date, we've heard from our WC more and more - so brides that are much further out - don't worry too much!

Its coming up SO fast! I hope you have the time of your life!

The spa prices are high but it seems they offer discounts all over... they give you "resort credits" when you check in and there are discount coupons that can knock approximately $20 off each service (I think it was), I went to use coupons for my girls but instead they gave me 20% off and it worked out to be a better discount that way. When you check in check at the hotel look at the front desk, there was a spa paper posted when we were there saying if you asked about it they gave a discount (unsure of what it is), they also give discounts if you are in club premium.

They charge in pesos and when we were there they gave approximately 12.9 pesos to the $1 which is pretty darn good!

If you are upgraded to Premium, then you receive discounts at the spa.  I even brought members of our bridal party and my father-in-law and they gave them discounts because of my premium status since I was with them.

Hi All,

I am looking for Bride(s) who are gettting married at on of the Barcelo Resorts in a few weeks. Anytime between January 23- 29th, 2013. Are you brining a photographer from the US. If so, could you send me a link to their site? I am going to be shooting a wedding on the 26th and I am hoping to find a photographer who is visiting or pehaps staying longer to do a quick portrait session for me.  I just got engaged 2 weeks ago, and I thought it might be nice to get a couple professional photos while we are down there.  I've contacted Del Sol - but I want to see if there is any photographer perhaps staying at the resport.

Thanks for your help,

Crystal

Only 45 days to go! We have about 70 booked and finalized so far (mostly at the Palace, which is apparently sold out now). I have silently been stalking this blog for 9 months and have taken the advice and not freaked out, BUT now that we are getting close...haha

We are doing the catamaran trip in place of the rehearsal dinner and I have completely stayed out of that planning and let my future mother-in-law have at it. I think no matter what, it should be a blast (although our families are mostly Irish/English and I have often wondered how sun poisoning might factor into this).

The bridesmaids dresses are done. The groomsmen stuff is done. My dress is being altered. Hair and makeup booked through Adrian. The groom booked the DJ (he searched these blogs to choose him/my only requirement was the light up dance floor). Cake has been ordered by my Aunt (again, I stayed out of it and trust her/my mother). My brother is doing the ceremony (it won't be legal/we got married at City Hall here in Chicago on my Great-Grandmother's anniversary). My mother and Aunt have already designed and purchased things for vintage-y centerpieces. We have two photographers and a videographer (the groom's father is a professional photographer and they are all "guests" of the wedding/my parents paid for their travel/hotel stay for the week).

Which brings us to my first-world-bride dilemma/What I need advice on:

We initially selected the Tangerine Sunset, but now seeing that we won't need a JOP, videographer, photographer, DJ, cake, or upgrades it seems downright silly to spend over $10,000 on that package!

Should we go a-la-carte for the cocktail hour, flowers, and reception (don't forget the mariachi you have all raved about msnwink.gif)? Or add onto the Blueberry Dream? Or just suck it up and keep the Tangerine Sunset?

HALP!

Hi! Another question from me..The holiday was a good break but now I am back in full planning gear! :)

I have booked an outside photographer and in order to avoid paying the $500 vendor fee, I am planning to book 2 nights for the photographer and his assistant. We are all staying at the Palace Deluxe but the rooms per night at that time is $266. The other resorts like the Beach and Tropical are cheaper at $140 per night. Would you recommend me to book another resort room for the photographer? Is that a hassle?

Please help. :) Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
