For those of you that have had, or are going to have, both the ceremony and reception at play azul, what did your guests do in between the ceremony and reception while pictures were being taken? I heard that Playa Azul is quite far from the Maya Palace (where we are staying). I know that there is a bar close to Playa Azul but heard that it doesn't open until the reception starts... Any advice would be great!

Barcelo is so gorgeous that you really do not need to do much to add to that beauty.  That is one of the tremendous advantages to having a destination wedding!

I would guess it is the beach by the pool and Coco bar.  It is very pretty but very busy and populated with people.  What time is your reception?

it really is gorgeous! We did the huppa, I really loved the way it looks in the photos, but it probably would have been just as nice without.  The ocean is so beautiful!

Has anyone used the onsite photography company for videography? And if so how does it work with having an outside photographer, do I not have to pay the hotel the $500 or have my photographer stay 2 nights because I am still using the onsite company but then do I still have to pay for day passes? I am trying to figure it all out! OR does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation on who to use for videography services.

Thanks!

That is a really good and clever question! It costs $550 for a one hour video..so it would only be $50 more to have the video (than the fee). But I wouldn't be surprised if they still made you pay it because you are not using their photography :/.

Will they let me put it in the closet? Thinking about it stresses me out :/ Also, I don't know what to do about party favors...what will I be able to take on the plane? I was thinking about beach bags filled with sunblock, chapstick, mini maracas, koozies..stuff like that. Will that be a pain and cause problems boarding the plane?

I had the same panic attack about my dress. I called the Airline and they basically told me that based on the flight crew and space there are a few things they might do. If there are empty seats they may lay the dress there, if there is room in the closet they will try to hang it or they will let you take an entire overhead bin and you have to fold your dress over and put it in there. My friend did that when we flew to Cabo for her wedding and it was fine. She did however bring a travel steamer with her. I'm also wondering about the favors so if you get any ideas please let me know ! Im getting married on April 29, 2013 :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
