So they serve premium liquor at the reception? I had thought that if you were staying at the palace it was all premium liquor, but it seems like you have to have the prem wristband, is that right? I guess I want to make sure it will be premium for the reception. Let me know if anyone knows... Thanks!!!!

The cake is pretty awful. Especially if you're having a beach reception. By the time we got to cut it the humidity had done a number on the fondant. It was sort of wet and slimy?

We cut the cake and we just had them take it away. We had 71 people so we bought the extra tier. Looking back the dessert they serve with the dinner is what everyone eats. Once dinner was finished everyone wanted to dance in the sand, not sit down for another piece of cake.

What Dan said - if you have something specific you want, send them a picture and get the price. I picked my centrepieces before, but picked the actual flowers in them, and bouquet at the meeting.

Thanks!!

Our cake was amazing!! If you read my review, you'll see that the humidity and refridgerator killed my butterflies, but the cake itself was delicious.  We were only 30 people, and we ate at least half of the two tier cake.  We had Coconut and Strawberry, both were really good!  Our icing was buttercream, not fondant, and it held up well. Maybe that is something to request?

We took all our table decor with us. For name tags we used starfish we got at The Christmas Tree Shop and added name tags to them.

We ordered maracas online but you can also buy them everywhere down there. We got yellow ones that had "Mexico" painted on to them, and attached a tag with a verse, and when everyone shaked the maracas we had to kiss.

We also took all the yellow candle holders down there with us, along with our DIY menus and mint matchbooks.

With 30 guests, the only reason you will want an extra layer is for photographs. It will not get eaten!

The dessert with dinner was great, everyone loved it, and between the big meal, dancing and drinking, no one was interested in wedding cake.

We did 2 layers, one strawberry and one choclate and for those who tasted it they said it was great.

Our cake was not nought out and put on display until near the end of dinner. They had the cake table all set up in advance.

Thanks, can you share any quotes you added on to the maracas.  We get married in 150 days!  So much to do.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
