I ordered white calla lillies and they were included in the package for my bouquet.  But I will warn you the ones that I got were dead.  When I say dead, I mean brown dead spots on the decaying petals.  Claudia showed them to me on my wedding day and I asked her to get new ones so that I did not have to walk down the aisle with dead flowers.  When she sent me the new ones as I was getting ready, they were still dead. No different than before, except perhaps worse.

Even Adrian (styling trio) told me that he had never seen such an awful bouquet at the Barcelo.  They ended up refunding me only partially for the cost of my bouquet and my bridesmaids (which were not included in Strawberry package).  This partial refund was NOT worth the stress on my wedding day.  My advice- I may have had a one off experience, but don't chance it.  If you want white calla lillies, go with an outside vendor or don't get them at all!!!!

We are having both the ceremony and recepetion at the Coral Beach.  I am so excited, but nervous at the same time.  We are trying to decide on photographer right now.  Hopefully we will see you there!  How many guests are you having?

OOhhh  I am so excited! We are getting married April 13th at the Coral Beach.  It is coming up so quickly, I still feel like I have so much to do.  I guess it is because I really don't know what to expect.   This forum has been such a great help for all the planning, lots of valuable information here!

It seems to be the census that the dance floor is not really necessary, thanks for the feedback ladies! That sure saves us a bunch of $$$!

We are trying to pick the photographer as well, I am finding it nerve racking to plan a destination wedding as well. So far we have about 50 guest but I'm thinking when its all said and done we will have anywhere between 70-90. I am overwhelmed by how many guest are actually willing to travel to Mexico for our wedding we were thinking originally 30 people TOPS!! The amount of people are kinda blowing my budget right out of the water but hey, the more the merrier I suppose.

Hey I see you mentioned you are looking at having 70-90 people coming to your wedding.  The more people I talk to about our wedding the more that keep say they are going to come too.  I was thinking 30 tops as well but we are looking right now at 50+ and we aren't getting married until February 2013.  What are you going to do with such a big group? Having dinner on the beach or even a dinner in banquet room gets to be really expensive does anyone have any other idea's that won't break the bank to do with your whole wedding party??

Would love your suggestions or idea's :)

Thanks!

I'd love some ideas as well, originally I had picked a destination wedding far away for 2 reasons. #1 being VACATION, #2 being I thought it would save me money just buying a package and maybe having to pay for a few extras. I guess it was my fault for inviting too many people, but I thought "hey who would really travel to Mexico (of all places) to see me get hitched"  I guess I am loved way more than I ever thought either that or everyone else just wants a reason to go on vacation as well. But I'm determined that if they are gonna travel all the way there for me I have to do something nice for them. Between OOT bags and paying for all the extra people etc...its adding up quick!  There is always the blueberry package (I think, that is a cocktail party and includes unlimited people) you could go to a buffet after and to the club for dancing! Just an idea, I myself want the traditional reception (so I most likely will be picking up some extra shifts at work)

As for past and future brides....when it comes to the photographer how much time is a good amount?  I'm trying to determine how much time I need!

Does anyone have an idea of what things NEED to payed in cash? For example I know for having an outside photographer the $300 fee can only be paid upfront in cash. And for those things that do require cash payment, does that mean in Peso's or can I use Canadian Dollars?

I'm leaving in 3 weeks and just trying to figure out how much money I should be taking with me on top of cash for tips.

Thank you, all you lovely brides!

Although it does end up costing a lot more than it originally seems when you think about a destination wedding, I wouldn't worry too much just yet. We had about 55 people saying they were going to come in the beginning, and now our final wedding count is 35. When it comes to actually booking, a lot of people dropped out, it just depends.

For the photographer, we really wanted ours to be with us for the whole day since I wanted photo's of me getting ready in the morning with my bridesmaids, through the ceremony, and right into our reception. We were lucky and found a photographer who was willing to stay the whole lot of it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
