We had the Mango Scallop Ceviche, our presentation was more fun though.  It  was in half a coconut!

We had the Lemon and Chicken Soup from Merida - which was delicious! It just looked like chicken noodle soup.

Surf and Turf was our main - it was plated differently than the photo below, I don't have a picture of it yet.

Our chocolate fondant cake was round, but plated similar.

Everything was delicious!

I ate a little of the curried chicken and tomato salad and it was really good.

I had a little onion soup but was afraid of splattering my dress so only had a few spoons, but it was standard french onion soup.

I was away getting my bussle on my dress when main course was served so I only picked at the potato when I came back, I really wasn't hungry at all because of the excitement all day.

Now what i did eat and love was the raspberry tiramisu ..... that was incredible!

I have some pictures that I'll post below, some from my wedding, some I got from other brides before my wedding when we were deciding on our menu :

Thank you Joanne! She pretty much summed it all up for you. You are having so much fun and the time goes by so fast BUT no pressure you can change or add things at any time. The wedding coordinators are very accommodation to all of your needs. We added on 1 hr and they charged it to my credit card. The cost for 1 hr is $13 per person. They charge you for the original amount you have set up for your wedding. In my case I had 20 people, even though only 16 people stayed they will still charge you for 20. Even if you want to change any of your locations and it's still available they will accommodate to your needs. I ended up tipping my WC $100 for doing such a fabulous job and the servers were tipped $75.

Pictures...I had my son take my wedding pictures for me but I decided at the last minute I wanted to have professional pictures taken so that my son could be in the pictures with me. My son walked me down the aisle.  We went to the Kodak photography which is located at the Palace and had talked to them about some packages. It was way more then I wanted to spend at the last minute. SO I negotiated with them. I ended up paying $500 for 100 photos on a DVD for 1 hr with a photographer. He took pictures of just the wedding party out on the beach. I have to say I was disappointed with my photographer. The main thing i wanted him to do was help with the poses for the wedding party. He did a good job with the groom and myself. He was just not great at setting up poses for the group pics. We did end up with good pictures, but I definitely expected better. Good thing he took so many that I was able to choose from. It took us almost 3 hrs to pick 100 pics. We were able to pic up the DVD on that same day.

About the music...we chose some classical and some of our favorite top 20 slower songs. We had our music organized into folders on the i pod.

1   had entrance and group dance

2   had dinner

3   had dancing

Remember your ceremony is 3 hrs. You choose how it all plays out. We chose to start off with drinks at the dinner table and did the toasting. Some toasting continued in between entrees. It all played out when we were there. Don't forget the WC have great ideas and  share with you. Negotiating never hurts to ask. In our case we save a lot of money with pictures and other things through out our trip.

Best Wishes to all!

Wow Avens, thanks so much for the post, your wedding looked beautiful!  It's nice to see another Western Canadian bride on here.  Our wedding is on April 12th, and we are getting really excited!

I just found out today that the photographer who was coming with us from Canada is no longer able to make it.  :(  So, we are now going back to the drawing board and trying to find a photographer.  I think we have settled on Claudia Rodriguez, so if anyone has any experience with her let me know, or if you have any other recommendations that would be great!

Also, if anyone has a list of the menu options that would be really helpful.  We would love to have the surf n' turf but are worried it may no longer be available.

Thanks again for all of the info ladies, this site is incredibly helpful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
