We are having our reception on April 12th at the Palmeras Grill.  Gabriela told us if we could guarantee 80 guests (we have a large group) then she would be willing to give us the grill under the mint breeze option.  I don't know if it's because we are getting married during a busy week (Easter break) or if they try to keep the grills for larger groups, but it seemed like numbers were the ticket for getting the grill.

We were also concerned about the extra cost per person under the Strawberry package.  Seems like a lot of money, particularly with a large group!

Hi there. I actually just spoke with my WC; Claudia, about this, she said you must have the Strawberry package or higher...to have your reception on the beach or in one of the pool side Grilles. Otherwise the others are in the banquet rooms or in one of the al a carte restaurants. I even asked about doing the mint and asked what the charge would be if possible to 'upgrade' to a grille or beach, NOT an option, I guess, it has to be Strawberry, and yes any guests over the 15 included in the Strawberry pkg are an extra $60-some per person. I was debating , myself, to try to save some $, its getting so expensive, but If it helps, I have heard all wonderful things and I have been to Barcelo a number of times.  It is such a beautiful place, We had our hearts set on the grille (to be outside) so we are sticking with the Strawberry pkg.   Sorry I don't have better news for you, but I just spoke with her about this a few days ago actually, so I hope it helps clear up some planning decisions for you. Best wishes & Happy Planning fellow Brides.

Hi Val!

Sorry for the late reply... I'm not opn here as much these days! Thanks for the compliment! I ordered them from Zappos.com. They have a ton of bridal shoes on there. I got the wedges because of the sand factor. I'm quite short so I didn't want to be overwhelmed by my dress so heels were a must. Even with the wedges, walking in the sand in my tight dress wasn't the easiest but I didn't have any near falls or anything like that. Definitely wouldn't go with stilettos if your cermony is on the beach - that would be a disaster, especially at Playa Azul where the sand is softer and deeper than the other beach locations.

I hope this helps!

Question for Barcelo brides who have already been married there:  How did your receptions wind down?  Was it graceful and there was a plan to head to another area of the complex or did the Barcelo staff start cleaning up around you so you felt that you needed to get the heck out of dodge?  Also, if you brought your own decorations, did the Barcelo staff take care of putting them together and getting them to you at a later date or did you have to assign friends/family to assist with getting them cleaned up after the reception?  Thanks in advance!

Great questions, anyone know?

It's been pretty quiet on here, wondering if Barcelo is quiet on the wedding front or if other brides don't know about this site?

Anyone leaving soon?

I have four months to go and am starting to get into panic mode so these random questions are just popping up now.  I am just beginning to realize how much I have to do still!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
