This is a good idea.  Anyone else going in January 2012?

I think it'd have to be set up personally between brides because if they just kept stuff brides left behind they could prolly charge for it.

Quite honestly, I would have thought the resort would have a huge supply of vases, candle holders, decorations, table runners, etc ...... that previous brides thought was easier to leave behind than pay airlines to drag back with them. It really surprises me that they don't. I need to buy vases to hold personalized after dinner mints, and a box to fill wiith sand to insert personalized lollipops. It's turning into a pain in the a$$ to drag all this stuff down there!! Still I think it will be worth it!! Any other November 2011 Barcelo Brides? I thought there would be a ton for 11/11/11 (I tried to get that date but it was gone).

I agree.  It seems odd to me as well.  Have you heard from any previous Barcelo brides to find out what they did?

Hi Ladies!!!

I just returned from our wedding trip to the Barcelo and I have one thing to say: YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!!! I know every bride says it, but regardless I was still freaking out until we got there and met with Grecia, our WC. From that point on I was stress free because I knew she was on it!!! The day was perfect, more beautiful and stress free than I could possibly have imagined!!! In terms of candles etc. I'd suggest buying them there for sure. Even in first class that allowed a lot of  extra baggage, we still had to pay $450 in extra baggage fees!!!! There are lots of markets around Playa, there is even a mall in the hotel!! You should be able to find the baskets and stuff you need there.

For the bride who wants votives, I don't know where your reception will be but it if you want it on the beach it is really tough to keep them lit! I ended up just asking Grecia to do her best and never bought any candles. She managed to rustle up a few but honestly everything looked so beautiful that I hardly noticed!! We had the ceremony on Playa Azul and the reception on Palmeras beach. If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask away!!

Here are some pics. I tried picking ones that will show you the most of the set up and location, since I know those are the ones I wanted to see when I was searching!!

Oh and I brought in Planner 1 events for the chair and lounge furniture rentals as well as the girls' flowers and guys bouts. I have no pics of the lounge furniture yet but a there are a bunch of pictures still pouring in from friends and family.

I used the salon in the hotel for hair and make up and couldn't have been happier with the result. I  do have to say though that it is the luck of the draw. The first make up girl I had was horrible, but another one stepped in when they saw I wasn't happy and she was incredible. They used all MAC products and the make up held up really well.

Sorry if I'm babbling, we got in at two am and I'm back at the office this morning! I'm just trying to address some of the questions/concerns I know I had.

Amazing Meggers! It looks great! Can't wait to see more photos.

How was the reception on the beach? Was it to windy?  I'm trying to decide on my locations, and I'm worried about the wind!

Thanks again! You're gorgeous!

Aww thanks Avens!

If there was one thing that wasn't perfect about the wedding, it was the wind. It was VERY windy. Though to be completely honest once dinner got underway we barely noticed it! That was the advantage to having the reception at Palmeras beach rather than Playa Azul, while Playa Azul is more private, the sand there is finer and more prone to blowing around. At Palmeras the sand is a bit grainy, so there was no issues with that whatsoever. With the microphone we were still able to hear everyone's speeches etc. and once the dinner convos started flowing it's like we all forgot about the wind entirely!

I am 100% for a beach reception despite the wind. I couldn't imagine having our wedding any other way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
