Have a few questions for you smart brides out there who have done the research!  First, if you use outside vendors for decorations, chairs, etc...does the resort charge you a fee for using them and allowing them access to the resort?  Second, anyone have any idea when the 2012 prices will come out?

We had outdoor vendors for flowers, cake, DJ, and chairs. The resort did not charge a fee to use them. I'm pretty sure the reason for the fees to use an outdoor photographer is that the hotel has some sort of 'exclusive use' contract with the resort photographer. No such contract with vendors for the other services, so there isn't the issue of having to break the contract and pay a penalty. I think having the photographer stay as a guest is just another creative work around a really dumb contract provision.

Oh... we did have to pay for our outside DJ's electricity?!! It was around $30.

Hey Lindsay,

I booked Claudia Rodriguez as well. I'm under the impression you have to pay the 300 bucks and a day passes. I don't mind the day passes, but that 300 bucks bothers me. My wedding is July 12 this year. When is yours?  Happy planning!

Thanks so much everyone for your replies! I thoughts you'd like to know that I actually just heard back from Victoria (my WC) too and she confrimed that you do not need to pay for day passes if you pay the $300 fee!! Below was my question and her response.

"***Outside Photographer: We booked Claudia Rodriguez for our photographer and videographer and need to confirm that the only fee we need to pay to get them into the resort is $300 to the Barcelos Photography company. **Pls confirm we DO NOT need to purchase day passes for the photographers and videographer in addition to the $300 fee.[Victoria Vazquez]  if you pay the fee dont need pay a day passes "

HI Jen - I totally agree with you! The $300 bugs me!!... but we're actually having 3 people (2 photogs and 1 videographer) so 3 day passes would have been about the same cost...i just wanted to make sure i didnt have to double that! We actually leave next wednesday! Our wedding is 3/7!! :) I'll let you know how everything went when i get back!! :)

My experience with Claudia has been terrrible.  She never addresses my questions on emails and when I request for her to "confirm" reservation for a beach/ceremony location she always gives me random answers.  5 emails later and I still cannot get her to confirm. Ugh! Brace yourselves if you have Claudia.  I am to the point of requesting another WC.

Dear brides,

Who is your WC and would you recommend her?  I would love to hear some feedback.

Thanks for letting me know, I have two different companies coming in (photog and videographer) with a total of 4 people.  When I addressed this issue with them last year, they told me that I had to book a minimum of two nights, per person, in the resort in order to allow them.  Now that I hear $300 total sounds way better to me...but its true the rules do bug me too.

My WC is Victoria and i must say up until now i've found her great. We booked in June and she was very quick to respond to my questions. However i haven't heard from her now in months. I emailed her a couple of times weeks ago and had no reply. I've been given a phone number via the facebook page to call but as i'm in the UK it might be costly. I will email again this week and if i have no joy i will try ringing. We are 3months away now and i've not had anything sent to me ie, flowers, cake choices etc etc. I know they are VERY busy but a little bit of feedback would be nice :o/

Lindsay,

I also want to have a slideshow but saw that the price list of Barcelo you have to a wopping $600 in order to have the equipment for the slideshow.  However, I have read other brides got DJ and other media packages through DJ mania.  However, i read mixed reviews about their DJs/emcee services, I requested a quote from them for their DJ services (no slideshow) and they quoted $850 for 5 hours of DJ service much cheaper than the Barcelo prices.  I would check with them to see how much they would charge for the slide show equipment.  http://www.manniacancun.com.mx/Site/Index.html  The quote I got included audio, robotic lighting, DJ cabin, smoke machine, balloon, confetti and DJ. I think other ladies said they offered the dance floor too, but I did not see that listed in my quote.

Dear Brides,

Has anybody used DJ Mannia?  If so, would you recommend a particular DJ with this company?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
