I just wanted to see if anyone else feels this way. I am getting married in June at Barcelo, and have been in steady contact with Claudia, our WC. Lately, however, it has seemed like she doesn't know what is going on. I felt very happy originally because she seemed organized and got back to me quickly. However, on a few occasions, she has emailed me for the "next step" and it's something we've already decided on and emailed her about. This happened with the menu, where she emailed us saying the next step is the menu when we had already picked it, and even came up with a vegetarian option that was different than the one on the menu. Today I just got an email from her that said we need to start filling out this document thing (the planning spreadsheet thing) when we had started it months ago! I'm sure it will all work out but this makes me nervous about the things we agreed on a long time ago, such as my ceremony location and reception location. Because I have to wait so long for emails, I usually just answer her question so we can get onto the next step. Should I just ask for her to confirm with me everything we have agreed upon so far? I hate putting a halt in the process by doing this because I'm always waiting for a new email to do the next step but I have printed out things that say my locations on them. What do you think??

It is so difficult at times. I was in regular contact with Victoria and now i haven't heard from her in months.... She hasn't asked any questions about the wedding etc. All i have been sent is a guest list sheet. I did hear you hear from them more within the 3mth mark. We are getting married on the 1st June so i hope the ball gets rolling soon. I know it will all probably work out ok but its the build up and worry isn't it? I have also printed off everything she has told me and i'm taking it with me for back up

Claudia is my WC, and I am now 1 month from the wedding.  I used to hear from her weekly.  But, in the last two months I have emailed her with no response.  So, it does not get better three months out.  It just adds stress.

I wonder if the wedding coordinator contact issue is because this is the busy season for them? I'm not getting married there until 2012, but from the reviews that seems to be common.  Especially if they are having 3 weddings a day.

From reviews (again, my only information) it seems a lot of people panicked about this, but everything was wonderful because once you get there, they really dedicate their time to you (which is why they don't answer emails etc as often.)

For the people in June, hopefully within a month or two things will slow down for them.

For the bride in a month, I hope it gets better! I'm in January so I'll be during the busy season too!  Sounds like they need a "wedding secretary" or something to organize all the emails etc.

Hey b2b2011!  Iâ€m from Calgary too and getting married at the Palace on February 21st!  When/ where is your wedding??

As for the responses from wedding coordinators, we finally just received the spreadsheet and we are only about 3 weeks away from our wedding!  The response time is horrible but hopefully what everyone seems to say is true: that everything is well taken care of when you actually meet in person.  I guess with all the weddings they do their emails get backlogged.  Fingers crossed that everything works out in the end!

Question for you ladies: anyone that is having live music during the ceremony and has the option of different instruments – which one did you choose?  Iâ€m not sure what to pick??

We picked the keyboard and bass. Just cause it's our fave instruments.

I think a lot of brides went with violin or sax. But depending on your ceremony location, I was told that the wind sometimes can drown out the violin!

Should keep that in mind!

As for the WC, mine is Claudia. During the initial planning we emailed each other back and forth about every other week. Since that stuff is pretty much all done we haven't really been in touch. I emailed her asking about a sand ceremony awhile ago and she got back to me within a week. SO no worries, brides!! I think we get to meet with the WC when we get to the resort to finalize everything! I know there are brides out there that don't even pick anything till the meeting. It will all work out!! :)

Yes DJ Mannia does count the dinner hour as one of the hours. I think the prices are pretty reasonable and renting the dance floor is cheaper too. Barcelo is $1280 and DJ Mannia charges $550 for the biggest light-up dance floor that they have.

Question.... I asked my coordinator for a quote on the tiffany chairs to rent and she said it's 7.00 a chair which is the same here where I live but then the quote also added in a $250 fee for transportation and set up. We do not have that fee... the $7 a chair includes everything so I am just wondering if anyone else has rented these chairs and had this extra fee. I expected to pay tax but not an extra $250 on top of that! All these extra fees they keep slipping in really add up =(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
