Mexico_2011, Can you tell me where you got this room rate? It seems everywhere I check it's a lot more expensive.

Thanks :)

It will be cheaper than paying the $300 outside vendor fee plus the two daypasses.

I got the rate from my TA. I think she is working it in with our group rate, but I'm not sure. I haven't booked it yet so I hope it doesn't change by the time I do!

Just wanted to post my experience thus far with the Barcelo Maya wedding coordinators, for anyone that may be considering Barcelo Maya for their wedding resort:

* Communication thus far it's been A+. I sent out my initial "wedding date request" email and had a response in 5 business days. I then sent my booking manifest and received my confirmation of wedding date and time within 2 days!!!!!

* I have Victoria and she seems very much on the ball, her English is perfect and has even sent me a guest list excel sheet for me to fill out so she can try and book our rooms together/handle any special requests.

I hope that everyone else is happy with their experience thus far, and just wanted to share mine :)

5 months 2 weeks and we'll be there!!! yipeeee

That's great. I have Victoria too :o) she is lovely. I have yet to email her about having an outside photographer so hope she responds OK to that. I'm really stressing over the new onsite ones smile27.gif

I was so excited when I heard they hired a new company...then I looked at their pictures....eeekkkk, not that great. Very standard shots, nothing that inspired me.

We hired Ivan Luckie and the deal with the outside photographer is that they have to be a "guest of the wedding". This means you have to book them in for 2 nights at the hotel (and some other people here said they got away with just one night). The other option is to pay $300 outside vendor fee to the other company...but that just seems silly to me. I will be booking them into the hotel the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. Makes more practical sense to me.

Good luck with all your planning! When are you getting married? What section are you staying in?

Have you made a decision on which photographer you will be hiring? I was feeling unsure about the new onsite photographers too so I ended up hiring an outside photographer.  My WC just said they had to be a guest at the hotel for a minimum of 2 nights.  Keep us posted!!

So if you pay for them to stay at the hotel you dont have to pay the $300? We haven't decided what to do yet..Just looking into it as wanted a video done to but on a tight budget... We are getting married on 1st June 2011 at the Palace (gazebo). I feel the same that the onsite photographers are pretty standard. They have emailed me a couple of times but just dont know what to do...

There is no fee for outside vendors (other than the photographer). We had someone outside do the cake, the flowers, the DJ... and we rented chairs from an outside vendor (but this was through Victoria). Still... no charge. Suppose the fee for outside photographers is because the hotel (stupidly) has a contract with an on site photographer... but not the same issues with other outside vendors because no contracts...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
